    In case, you have had your fill of the hill stations in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on">North India</st1:place>, try the only hill station in Madhya Pradesh for a change this summer. You will be a Pachmarhi - addict for the rest of your life. It has everything from tall peaks, verdant green forests and stunning waterfalls. If the sylvan surroundings make you break into a song, well, you are not alone. Even the Indian Army has a school of music here.

    The places of tourist interest in Panchmarhi include <st1:placeName w:st="on">Christ</st1:placeName> <st1:placeType w:st="on">Church</st1:placeType>, <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placeName w:st="on">Duchess</st1:placeName> <st1:placeType w:st="on">Falls</st1:placeType></st1:place>, Jatashankar, Forsyth Point, Apsara Vihar, Dhoopgarh, Pandav caves, and Rajat Prapat.

    The nearest rail head is Pipariya. From <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Delhi</st1:place></st1:City>, you need to take a train to Itarsi junction and change trains for Pachmarhi. From Pipariya, it is a two hour drive to Pachmarhi. You can take MPTDC buses or hire a taxi for the journey.

    I would like my friends to relate their experience of Pachmarhi.

    Yes, Pachmarhi is indeed lovely. I once stayed near the Army Music School and awoke in the morning to fresh mountain air and the sweet tune of Abide with me.
    Thanks for reawakening the memories.

    Panchmari is a very nice place, about 6 hours from Bhopal. The best time to travel is February-March. I like Panchmari for its <link rel="File-List" href="file:///C:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5CUser%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5Cmsohtml1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml"><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:punctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <w:DontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><style> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> </style><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]-->[FONT=&quot]caves, waterfalls, forests and cave temples.     Well, I have also visited Pachmarhi. Here are a few lines about what I liked best:
    Jatashankar is a cave- temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located about 2 kms from Pachmarhi. You will be amazed to see the how a big chunk of stone is suspended between two other large stones as if it is about to fall. Most tourists tread with caution as the stones appear as if to fall any moment. Tourists also take a dip in the cool waters of the lake below.
    Be Falls is another highlight of the place. It is located about 3 kilometres from Pachmarhi. The water falls from a height of 150 feet.
    We also watched the sunset at Dhoopgarh, about 10 kilometres from Pachmarhi. I and my dear husband held hands as the horizon turned crimson with the setting sun. It will be a romantic moment forever enshrined in my heart. :thumbsup

    We recently visited Pachmarhi. I like waterfalls and I liked both the Bee waterfalls and the Duchess waterfalls. It is a great experience.

It is famous for its scouts training camps, winter training camps and mountaineering camps. Pitch your tent in any clearing, light a fire, follow the smoke to the heavens. Pick up any trail and in no time you are surrounded by the sound of burbling water and the rustling of leaves.

    Tall ant-hills, that look like bits of sculpture, meditate under the sal trees and langurs stare down mysteriously from the occasional huge gular trees. The <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Satpura</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">National Park</st1:placetype></st1:place>, a lesser known wildlife sanctuary and reserve forest, surrounds Pachmarhi.
