Help for making idlis..
Hi all of you ,
I would be glad if anyone can tell me if its possible to make idlis using basmati rice.. We have onle one indian grocery store near our place and he does not stock idli rice..so was wondering if i can use basmati rice along with urad dal..???? has anyone tried this ..Here i do get thick italian rice(which look similar to par boiled rice ) but dont know wheter they can be used to making idlies..any other suggestions or ideas would be helpful... To say the truth im craving to eat Idli sambar .... tired of pizzas n pastas ...
Dont worry, you can prepare idly by using basmati rice that too raw one. what you have to do is, just
soak 2 sp fenugreek seeds for 24 hours and after that you soak rice and udad dal for 6-8 hours. Then grind them. Keep the dough for 12 hours and then make idly. Surely it will come soft. The feramentation is important, if it is cold season you can keep the dough for some more time or keep it in the MW. Try and give me a feed back.
All the best.
You also try by soaking fenugreek seeds seperately for 24 hours and soak
udad dal and rice seperatly. Try this and give me a feed back. OK ?
All the best for you too.:2thumbsup:
