to increase the shelfline - plaintain leaves

    dear lata ma'm, hope this helps u....
    the method which i follow is -cut plaintain leaves 2 desired size ; light the stove hold one end of the leaf n gently rub the entire leaf on fire.......so that the heat spread s onto the entire leaf....there'l b a slight color change.....the entire procedure shd take only a few secs., else the leaf may turn black..repeat the sm with other leaves....let it cool..now roll these n keep inside a ziploc/plastic cover..... n refrigerate ! it stays 'fresh' for 3 -4 wks.....
    earlier i used 2 get these fm india - i use for the preparation of ada - [a combination of riceflour dough on the leaf with coconut n jaggery or jackfruit jam as stuffing -a steam cooked goodie:p] - the plaintain leaves gives the dish a special taste n aroma...:tongue:tongue
    i wud b happy 2 kno more tips regarding this.........

    Dear Achu,
    The Properties Of The Leaf Is Lost When Put On Fire And Then Stored, The Basic Thing To Eat On A Leaf Is To Enjoy The Medical Value Of The Plantain Leaf, So I Think U Can Store A Little For A Few Days But More The Fresh It Is Best...sunkan

    dear sunkan,
    wat u ' ve said is very true!!!! since we dont get these regularly in qatar:-( , i think this is the best way....... to satisfy our very indianised wishes.....we indians we crave for indian food...where ever we go....no matter we may eat the same idli, dosa ,poori etc at home....n we tend 2 land up only in an indian hotel, when we r out fm hom:confused: too...:) :)
