    Dear Mrs.Chithra,
    Thanks for the tips, i have been catching up on reading all the threads here and tips thread is very useful, made methi powder, curryleaves powder and now this gives a good taste to sambhar. for hing can i use the readymade powder?or is it better to buy those bars and sundry and powder it? i feel the hing powder available here is old as not much flavour like the one my mom used to use.
    And also ur kitchen photos look great. i need some suggestions on those cabinets.

    kitchen cabinets?

    Dear Mrs.Chithra,
    Would like to know what material is the cabinets and which is better and long standing and also easy to maintain. my mom is planning to redo the kitchen countertop and put cabinets according to her usage. would like to know what to do and what not to do.
    which brand electric beater is good? i am planning to gift her one when i visit her.

    Snacks that can be stocked in the freezer for visitors

    Plan this way. Once a week, prepare a batch of anyone of the following & freeze in plastic shallow boxes lined with Al foil, single file. They can be directly, deep or shallow fried, as the case may be. Just remember, deep frozen will take a little longer to cook through completely.

    The freshly ground dough for the following (before adding salt) may be frozen in ziplock covers in the freezer, thawed for a couple of hours & then used to make vellai paniyarams:
