Shorter women should buy saris with small borders or no borders. Always avoid sarees with big borders and big floral prints.

Though it sounds ironical, dark complexioned women should buy dark colours like maroon, green, dark pink etc.

If you are one of those women who wish to look slim and are conscious about your heavy weight then I recommend you to go for sarees made from fabrics like Chiffon, Crepe, and Georgette. And yes, always wear straight cut, non-flare petticoats underneath the saree.

it depends on how u carry it. anything will suit us if we wear it properly. my mother never bothers to wear her sarees neatly, but her sister much elder to her still wears her sarees so neatly with nice pleats tucked in properly and the pallu neatly falling from the shoulders. so, it's the interest in whatever u do that matters.
