tips for insomnia

    Hi friends

    whatever time i go to bed, i couldn't sleep i kept staring at the ceiling or at my watch...frankly i dont know at what time i found myself sleeping....

    any tip for a tight sleep are welcome........

    hi huma,

    R u on any medication...if so check out if that is causing insomnia...
    (Because it happens with me...the medication i take keeps me awake most of the time...and even if i sleep it is a light one...)

    IF not...

    try taking a warm bath before sleeping.
    take a drink of hot milk..if you like...
    Listen to soft music...it helps...
    the list goes on....

    yes i am on medication but my insomnia was always with me... i just put up with it until now it became very tiring......

    hi Huma ,

    Yeah it's very true that some medications cause hell out of insomnia. This sleep pattern can be very tiring and exhausting too when we wake up in the morning. bonk I underwent the same situation too. One thing to be done being on medication is to take the medicine as early as possible. Some vitamin pills can cause insomnia too esp Vit B complex etc. Other possible ways of curing this insomnia is :-

    1. As per Shanvy suggestions...
    a) taking hot shower before bed
    b) having a cup of warm milk ( can add lil turmeric and honey too )
    c) soft music

    2. counting on numbers 1-100 or countdown from 100,99,98 ...-1

    3. Avoiding strenuous exercise after 7 pm ( for some people exercising after 7 pm can cause the body and mind to be active at nite ).

    4. Having early dinner at least 2 hours before bed.

    5. Keeping mind calm and tell yourself " im going to sleep now , I must sleep" ... this helped a lot for me !!

    6. Yoga asanas ( breathing in the corpse pose and child pose is very good ).
