    Bhanu,
I am a novice.. So far I have done just 3 oil paintings. You can see them in my album. Share yours too. As for tips and tricks - since I am just a beginner, not much as such.. Hope to learn some from this thread.

    Hi Bhanu,
I have done some oil paintings though not professionally trained. I don't know what tip you want. It is done in canvas, canvas board, oil sketching paper etc. Mix linseed oil with the oil paint& just paint. If you need any other tip please feel free to ask.

    Nalini.

    Hi True and Nalini

Thanqs for the replies. Am just beginner in oil painting. I am interested in painting but I dont know the basics in how to start an painting and what are the things to be noted/remembered while painting. Consider ur profile picture of Tulips. Can you tell me how can i paint that? How should I start painting that? w Is there any step wise or materials that explains the tricks for oil painting same like glass painting as shared by other Ilites.

Am just attaching 2 of paintings i tried and am sure those r not good. I would like to receive the feedback about those what went wrong and what can be improved in that paintings. Please share the paintings tips.

    Thanks in advance
    Bhanu

    Bhanu!!!
Your paintings are so good! :thumbsup
How come you say they are not good?! :idontgetit:

Nothing went wrong there. To me it looks very nice. And what can be improved.. I am a beginner just like you yaar.. So can't think of any.. All I know is: The horse, the shadow of the trees, the light reflection.. They are so beautifully done. :)

For that Tulip, this is how you can go about:
    1. First take a printout of the picture
    2. Using a pencil draw grids on the picture and on canvas
    3. This will help you draw the picture proportionate to the original
    4. On the gridded canvas, draw the overall outline in pencil
    5. Then paint the base or bottommost color throughout the canvas.. here olive green..
    6. Paint the next color on top of green.. here baby pink (out of focus tulips). Use the outline to locate which grid pink goes
    7. Use a bigger brush to smear or blend the tulips to get that out of focus effect
    8. Now paint the main tulip and its stem
    9. Add highlights (pink + white would yield the desired highlight)
    10. Add your signature using the signature brush. :)
