May be its not to long for me, it may take 6-7 years when I will be a MIL,

Right now my DD is in the 12th and doing very good in her academic's, she wants to do her PG in US or UK, so now our priority is her studies and we are saving for it.

some how I have the feeling that this girl will find her own life partner, so I am mentally prepared for it, once she gets married all we want to is shower our love and blessings to the newly wed couple, never interfere in their matters, let them decide about their life , their home etc... hope my future SIL won't go about complaining about me...

Maybe our generation of mils can bring about a change and stop expecting sons to become our "budhape ka Sahara"...

    Hi outofthebox
Aren't we smart? Securing the lives of our LOs and in the bargain ensuring our stronghold are" Mils-eternal" ; Mils with a zing, adding enthusiasm to this lacklustre position.

Hopefully I'll get an daughter and just like how my amma gave me the best of everything in life she could and accepted gracefully everything what i chose for myself, I too wish to be like my amma..
DD will get an amma and acha who will give her all the liberty to choose what is right for her, which accompanies a lot of learning experience..As IL's we will have an detached attachment, just leaving them to enjoy and decide their own life. And as someone suggested, me & DH will enjoy our second stint honeymooning :exactly:.

I hope no one curses me for what i write here :p . I have a son. very tiny kid though. So I know I will be MIL sometime. So will be my son's MIL. She will also be a MIL. I need not do any exercise mentally to accept new girl in my Sons life. Will any girl's mother do that (mentally preparing to accept son-in-law in her life) ??Its by default accepted in our so called society that girl will go away to in laws house and she is addition to their family. I think society should change. A DIL is NOT an addition to the boys family. Instead they both together form a new family and yeah the girl's family, the boys family together form a entire big nice family. Yeah parents need to be taken care of. So does the both set of parents need to be taken care of. I know it would be silly to expect them stay in single house i mean couple with both set of parents so near by houses will be nice option. But atleast we, educated women should change from the thoughts that DIL of ours is addition to our family and we need mental preparation to accept NEW GIRL in our life. Lets have life of our own and we might not get these thoughts about poor girl at all.. Our son is addition to their family just as she is addition to our family .
