We have been having rains for some days with thunder and lightening. Whenever we listen to the thunder, we remember the words shouted out by a lamb in a beautiful little story we have listened to, from very early childhood.

It is about a small lamb who comes back home rolling in a barrel through the forest. Whenever he is about to be attacked by a wild animal he starts bellowing ,that he is the Thunder God and everyone should make way for him. This way he reached home safely. :thumbsup

It was our favourite story and we told it to our children who loved it as much as we did. We never questioned the story, just accepted it as it was.

Looking back life seems to have been so uncomplicated then, but there must have been the ups and downs of those times. A year in primary school had been pretty bad, fortunately my parents realized my difficulties and changed my school. From then on life was fine. School was just one part of life. We were never under any pressure to score the highest marks . Two months of vacations spent with maternal grandparents and relatives , in the village, away from the big cities where we lived, were the precious moments in Life. School and studies were forgotten. :rotfl

Stories read out to us by our grandfather, father’s father and his teaching us English and Maths and so much more have been the very foundations of our life.

Those days are precious memories now. They have shaped our way of Life.

"In childhood, we press our nose to the pane, looking out. In memories of childhood, we press our nose to the pane, looking in". ~Robert Brault,

    Dear LakshmiBhatt,
Even our children enjoyed their childhood. We did not pressurize them and let them enjoy. At the same time they were aware of their responsibilities.
    Childhood memories are always sweet,
