I want to go back to those golden days.. when the only way of communication is landline.. writing down phone numbers in notebooks.. telling mom before making a call.. answering her whos and whys.. calls lasting 10mins.. when u, r, s, n were just alphabets.. when there were no smileys and lols.. just pure fun and real laughter!!!...lets start recollecting those simple days by posting those memories...lets see how manywe can recollect..

    Yes gone are those days.

Right now it is the mobiles and laptops, ipods, etc that are ruling mankind.

We would never make unnecessary phone calls unless and until required. There was so much to do which kept us more active. These days all gadgets are doing everything..physical activity has lessened making us more dependent on them and worse of all...making us lazy!

We would look forward to Radio programmes and would enjoy watching TV only because serials and channels were limited. TV time would be family time. Nowdays TV is virtually on in every household!!!

There is lot of difference in lifestyle. Of course, there are boons as well like keeping us connected to family and friends always..but nothing can bring back those old days and moments

Such a cute thread Aryashi. Yeah, I remember those golden days WHEN -

    1. Talking to your "outstation" relative meant booking a trunk call and waiting for the operator to connect you.

    2. News with distant relatives was exchanged over postcards, inland letters and telegrams.

    3. Money was transferred through money orders.

    4. The only fast food joint was the single outlet of Nirula's at CP

    5. Kwality meant ice creams, Modern meant bread, Luxor meant pens, Forhans, Cibaca n Colgate meant toothpastes, Lux, Liril, Hamam meant bathing bars, Postman meant cooking oil, Nirma n Surf meant washing powders, Bata meant footwear etc

    6. There were only 3 types of cars - Ambassador, Fiat n Maruti

    7. T.V was still "black n white" with probably just 2 brands - Weston and Beltek. Programmes were limited to Chitrahaar on Wed and Hindi Movies on Sun on the only channel doordarshan.

    8. When news readers were household names - Shammi Narang, Salma Sultan, Usha Albuquerque, Rini Simon etc and there was only one RJ or talk show host - Amin Sayani whose opening line "Mere pyare behnon aur Bhaiyon" became his signature style.

    9. Kids looked forward to monthly picnics at local parks when mummies would pack all goodies and find a good, shady spot for the picnic. While the ladies exchanged notes, the kids too had their share of fun.

    10. Winters meant moms getting ready with the knitting yarn to create some beautiful cardigans.

    11. When kids never demanded things from their parents but were given everything that they wanted.

    12. When girls did not wear shorts in public and boys didnt pierce their ears or sport ponytails.

    13. When summer months meant sparrows nesting in all possible nooks in the verandahs and being woken up in the morning by the chirpy cacophony.

Gone are those golden days.....never to return. I miss them so much !!

    love,
    kylie
