The land of hunger sees no crime
To tuck whatever edible is fine,
I await your arrival in great anticipation
I have inculcated the maximum patience
Will wait for you to give yourself up
Nothing is too late for my lap up.

Do you come from the land of death?
You are a scavenger and so deft
I know my end is near to be
From the way you look at me
Food for some may poison some
Hunger the burning desire has come

Food for you will I be
When my respire will let go of me

Food for others is life to me
But do we have an option of decease?
Climb or crawl I slide across
    Something waiting always in hides
Will I survive this race for life?

    One satiates with the other
But the bend sees charging another
Now I breathe and now I’m gone
    Someone survived someone gone

Oh! God but I still want to be alive

    Sunkan,
Very well written, what more I can say!
You had come out very well in explaining the grim situation that is present in Africa.
Prey's and predator's view were excellent, but sad and how true...

    What could I do
    But stand by an watch
    When a bird of Prey
stooped too close to its Prey
God give me strength to bear
    this and so much more..

    What could I do
to ease the hunger in the world
For I am but one lowly person
and one too many too less
God give me strength to bear
    this and so much more..

If I could wipe away sorrow I would
If I could wipe away war I would
If I could wipe away atrocities I would
God give me strength to bear
    this and so much more..

I can but pray and hope
    The day would come
    When my dreams turn true
God give me strength to bear
    this and so much more..

    Dear Sundari
If that vulture waiting for the kid to die makes me sad, your poem makes me feel a lump in my throat. When you say,
I know my end is near to be
From the way you look at me
it is heart wrenching. After reading those lines, I looked again at the picture of the vulture waiting patiently for the child to die. Is the child aware that its end is near to be? Even without that awareness, the child will be gone as you say,
Now I breathe and now I’m gone
    Someone survived someone gone

Sundari, this is not like the tiger pouncing on the deer to eat it as that is an integral part of Nature but this vulture waiting to feed on the child is man-made. According to the laws of Nature, a human being is not intended to be a vulture's prey. If such an unnatural thing happens, we have only ourselves to blame. It is our greed that causes some to die such a terrible death.
    A lovely poem, Sundari.

Oh! Mother Earth, I search you in vain,
Just show me a few grains,
That I can eat and share,
    I need the strength,
    to straighten my bent knee,
And run from the waiting death.

    Look at the vulture waiting,
Has he smelt death I wonder,
Poor one, does he think i have lot of flesh,
How disappointed he is going to be.

I want to live, I will not accept defeat,
Like the frog that is waiting,
to lash out its tongue at its prey,
    laws of nature are defied,
    when it comes to survival

Sunkan, hope i have done some justice.
