It all started when my perippa (my mother's sister's husband) was talking to me about how to handle problems in life. I was just 13 years old. wow too much pressure on a 13 year old kid. anyways, he always believed in me and said i could do great things in life if i believed in myself and tried hard. So since he thought i was matured enough to understand his vedanthas, he continued. His philosophy is a simple one. so simple indeed. since then, whenever something happened, I tried to follow his way. I am an imaginative kind of person. so i used to imagine myself floating like an angel above the situation, watching it. by this time you would be curious to know whether i successfully followed it, whether the process moulded me into a better person. well would i dishonour the law of human kind? tsk no never. most of the time i would think from a third person point of view only after the fight, quarrel, misunderstanding happened. But sometimes, sometimes it would suddenly strike me to think like an angel. and i would feel happy and proud about myself for thinking rationally. thanks perippa.
Nicely written about the third person angle, which is always helpful to minimize our stress, but we use it only after such incidents take place, rightly said. It is hard to practice and if we are successful in that, then no problem at all from our side, what do you say? sriniketan
yes and we call those who have mastered this skill as "wow" .. well i couldnt think of any other word here ..
At home we have this practice...put yourself in the other persons shoes and evaluate the situation or if angry count 10. Roopa.
it always happens as u said after the storm comes and goes. then only we think in an 3rd person angle. but if we think the same in before hand then we dont have any misunderstanding, fights etc.., thought i am not followed it. I will try to in future let see if it helps to stop the misunderstanding.
