My Dad has Angiogram this week (the pre-procedure before the actual Heart ♥️ Procedure itself) Google says a lot of things The staff in the hospital is too rushed to help a nervous daughter What are things to take to Hospital so Elderly Parient can be most comfortable whole recovering from Angiogram? I am thinking pillow, socks, underwear shirts, sweats, shorts I dunno what else Hope he is in and out of Hospital after Angiogram, ie the same day.
Not specific to this procedure, but for any hospital stay, I've found flip-flops and extra pair of socks to be very useful. A hand-towel or small towel are also nice to have. I also keep some thin trash bags for shoes or dirty clothes. The hospital usually gives one large bag for the patient's belongings. A cell-phone charger with an extension cord is useful too. And a power bank. You might be doing quite some running around and need hands to be free for the phone that will always be out, so carrying things in a backpack is better. Maybe something in the car to make his ride home comfortable. And the usual stuff like all his medications printed out. Your nervousness is understandable but yes the doctors, nurses and other hospital staff are more focused on providing care to the patient. They may offer a compassionate comment or two to the family but not more. If possible, try to limit your questions to them only to ones that you can't find the answer elsewhere.
This is so helpful I have started a list Also have to take Medical records even thought we discussed this at the TAVR meeting (with 3 Cardiologists, 1 Nurse Practitioner) I hope hospital stay isn't too long and there is TV for entertainment (my Dad has difficulty keeping attention on books, magazines, etc)
Keep some snacks/fruits/dry fruits, water bottle - as you might not be able to leave for food while you wait for a doctor or a procedure... Keep a pic of his ids and various insurance numbers etc in your phone so that you can fill out forms easily Keep a running list of questions to ask doctors
Yes i need to print many copies of health ID, covid vaccination, etc He cannot eat food midnight before the procedure. And his food choices are limited due to other health issues. I'll ask what foods I should take for him (last I checked the Hospital has a Starbucks)
@SuiDhaaga Generally, the hospital would have already had a detailed call with you collecting all the information needed before the procedure like insurance card, full name, past health history, and so forth and so on. Besides, they would have already told the preprocedure preparation by the patient. Please take a medication list with you as they may ask this. Your list and Rihana's list is good. Please leave a blanket in the car when he comes out of the procedure room, he would really feel cold. The procedure rooms are kept at a low temperature for better hygiene. The hospital might change the need to send him home that night and sometimes, may suggest to keep him overnight depending on the surgeon's opinion. Please take his tooth brush with you as the hospital toothbrush is not at all good.
Well we are in City hence have no personal car (will get a local taxi) Hospital will call he day before, in this case, tomorrow Toothbrush is good idea to take in case Dad is unable to return home same day (this is Angiogram, not the TAVR itself)
