    Hai Sruthu,
if you are a Hindu, there is lots of temples in and around Ernakulam to visit, all very old and with good positive vibes.
You can visit Chottanikkara Devi temple, Shiva temples in Vaikam, Ettumanoor and Kadunthuruthi and Subramanya temple on the way. All these places could be covered in half a day, if you start by 4.30 or 5 in the morning. Temples close down by 11. Also you could go to the Poornathrayeesan temple (Santhana Krishnan temple) in Tripunitura. The deity in this temple is so beautiful, adorned with pink lotus flowers.
If you have children, there are 2 parks in the centre of the city, one is free, other is charged a paltry amount. Here your child could rent a bicycle and ride and also can have a joy ride in a boat (a small pond is there) and also a toy train is available.
You could visit the Ernakulathappam temple (near BTH), Hanumar temple and Muruga temple in the same compound. Also the Valanjambalam Devi Temple, and Ravipurathappan (Krishna temple) in Ravipuram.
You can take a boat ride to the Fort Cochin to see the Oldest Jewish Synagogue, Jew Street, the Palace with beautiful paintings and also the old Church there. This journey will be very very nice, trust me. The Jew Street is a heritage place. When you travel in the boat in the backwaters, it would be very scenic also. You can see the Chinese fishing nets. This place is the only one where you have a road (a bridge actually), ship yard, railway line on the bridge and also an air port, all could be seen from the boat.
When we went for the cruise, we were taken nearly to the mouth of the sea, near the Chinese fishing nets. Just when we started back, we were lucky to watch a large ship going out to sea from the port. My, what a sight it was.
You can get good handicrafts and coir products there. If you like non veg. food, sea food is famous and tastes good, I have heard. (I am a vegetarian).
Do ask me if you need any other detail.
You could also visit the Vazhachal and Adirapalli waterfalls, the Niagra of India, which is near Chalakudi. This can be a one day trip. And the famous Guruvayoor temple and the elephant camp of the temple with more than 60 elephants is a must see.
