    Cheeniya Sir,
As usual a hilarious post and the replies are also hilarious, expecially, Nivedi' yoga posture.
Had a hearty laugh! maybe my BP had been lowered to such an extent of categorising it as 'low BP'. luckily till now i am not in that sector.

regarding meditation, i do it in the name of 'dhyaanam' everyday, before God while chanting other prayers. I do close my eyes and i go to different places for a while and come back after a jiiter. then i ask 'sorry' from His Almighty for my 'wanderings' and accept me and forgive me 'if' i had made any mistake during 'dhyaanam' and show me the way to do it correctly. Till today 'i am sleepy' during dhyaanam and feel guilty afterwards.
As you had said, maybe 'meditation' is for some people only.

take care of your BP Sir.

    Dear Cheeniya,

That was a wonderful post, very hilarious.....the visuals created with the big monkey and grin was so hilarious.....
True it is difficult to sit in peace in this fast age......where is the time and the mental strength! I did do it wheni had learnt pranic healing first....and must say it was good , felt very light and it was different because we had to visualise on getting energy from outside source! So usually felt rejuvenated. But when i try now my thoughts too keep jumping around in a frenzy! So i dont bother.
But i guess if you keep at it , it will help in the long run! But in a way you are organising your thoughts and by sharing with us you are getting it all out...isnt that a way of meditation....just a thought!

    Dear Sri
I have realised that closing our eyes during meditation or dhyanam is a green signal for the monkey to start jumping around. So next time try your dhyanam keeping your eyes wide open. My grandma used to say that those who could close their eyes and do dhyanam need not go to a temple while those who found keeping their eyes closed an invitation for disaster should go to the temple and pray with their eyes wide open!
I do take care of my BP. In fact we have now come to a definite understanding!

    dear cheeniya sir

super post and infact i have also wondered how can ppl sit in one place without being disturbed abt anything happening arnd them..my sis is into art of living and they do a form of meditation called kriya.....she being younger to me does it quite regularly and i always wonder what wud go thru her mind when she does tht......infact i also want to give it a shot..probably when i try it i will tell u if i had a monkey or sumthing else.....but now ppl say meditation is the need of the hour not for ppl above 60 but even for the teens......BP ippo ellam 22 years laye vandhudaradhu sir.....during yester years ppl were healthy and their BP didnt shoot up coz the monkey inside them was alive but they knew how to control it...in today's scenario all of us let the monkey jump to its will n wish and fail to control it !!!!

    Dear Sudha
In a way the jumping monkey is behind my writing for IL so regularly. If it starts sitting still, I dont think I'll have anything to share with you.
In Arthur Waley's celebrated translation of the Chinese Writer-Philosopher Wu-Cheng'en's work as Journey to the West is popularly known as The Monkey in which Wukong the Monkey is symbolised as the incarnation of Human Cleverness. Wukong's exploits in the Heaven become so unbearable that Budhdha had to be requested to subdue him!
So the Monkey within is regarded as the epitome of Human Cleverness but it is for us to ensure that the Monkey doesn't go overboard with his pranks! A duly harnessed monkey can make the man highly creative!
Oh God! Where am I now? I just closed my eyes for a few seconds and look where I have gone!

    Dear Sowmini
Have you heard of this Zen story?
Three Zen monks took abode on a Himalayan peak for doing penance. They closed their eyes and went into meditation. Time rolled by and at the end of the tenth year one of the monks opened his eyes, looked around and said," Nothing much has changed here." There was no response from the other two who kept their eyes tightly shut. Ten more years passed and the second monk opened his eyes, looked around and said, "You are right! Nothing much has really changed." Another ten years later, the third monk opened his eyes, gave a stern look to the other two and said, "If you people keep chattering incessantly, how do you expect me to meditate?”

I guess that most of us are as hypersensitive to outside disturbance as these three monks and meditation is out of reach for us!

    Dear Cheeniya Sir,

It was a time when 3 families had moved in to our block and we were one of the new tenants. Most of the knocks were from people looking for someone (either the old tenants or one of the new one's) :confused:and ending up knocking someone else's house. And by the time all the folks settled in, the knocks ceased and I bid farewell to the asanas too .

So your bidding farewell to the asanas and the knocking on the door were purely coincidental? That's a relief then!

Monkey or not one must never be a slave to one's mind. That is the path to all chaos and stress. Definitely a funny post that visualized vividly as I read it. I'm a firm believer of transcendental meditation and have seen it work wonders in me and in others when I'm a part of their environment. Like they say "where there's a will, there's a way" (manam irunthal maargam undu).

That aside, cerebral hemorrhage isn't a trivial issue. Medication doesn't work on its own - the efficacy of the drugs is higher with a change in lifestyle (which can include relaxation and stress management techniques). The reason for the difference in response by your different specialists is because each specialization follows a slightly different school of thought. Hence what's acceptable to one isn't to the other. At this point in science all we can say is that literally we don't enough about anything to tamper or fidget any system (This is very true in a philosophical sense too). Take care of your health for that's one thing when you lose you can never regain completely. Remember the abuse you put your fragile body through and just think twice before you act for it can only take so much before it resigns.

    Dear Lavanya
I was certainly not happy with my haemorrhage but I was not to be cowed down by it either! I wouldn't know what really caused it but it certainly could not have been my fragile body! With the body that I am blessed with, you can make four fragile bodies!
Your concern for my health is touching and I'll keep your advice in my mind always!
    Sri
