Dear P P, I am glad you liked the article on Shiva. Normally we are so used to seeing pictures & just taking them for granted. When we know the significance, our understanding improves. Thankyou for the F B. Love, Chithra.
Dear Sundaribhaskar, Thankyou very much for the F B. The credit of the kolam goes to yet another Chitra, a young girl, who looks after my sick mother ! Love, Chithra.
Dear Vidhi, Thankyou for joinig us. What you are doing daily is an excellent thing - don't you ever give it up. Love, Chithra.
Dear Chitramma Thanks for the wonderful posting with the feast for the mind and eyes(the Kolam). I will worship Lord Shiva in a new outlook from now on. One doubt here(sorry for my ignorance) Dhakshinamoorthi (Guru) and the Navagraha Guru are two different gods right?. Being Shivarathiri tomorrow has brought back my childhood memories of spending shivarathiris at madurai with my cousins. Praying(playing) the whole night and giggling....with all the relatives gathered there for the occasion. Nostalgic! They were more like yearly get together of all the extended family members! They will call me each year and I get to talk to aaaaall of the family members for 1 or 2 minutes after I came here. I am waiting for the call tomorrow too. Love and Regards Vijee
My dear Chithra The article about the significance of Lord Shiva was very enlightning and you have posted it timely, tomorrow being Maha Sivarathiri. The Siva Linga Kolam looks very beautiful. I am planning to chant the siva sthuthi and other slokams you have given about Lord Shiva. Thanking u for yet another nice post. Love and regards Priya
My dear Vijee, Thanks for the F B. Navagraha Guru is Dakshinamurthy. That is why we worship Him on thrsday. So, shivaratri has made you nostalgic?? Love, Chithra.
My dear Priya, Thankyou very much. Besides chanting Shiva shlokams, do play Rudram-Chamakam cassette or CD. Love, Chithra.
My dear Chitra, Om Namashivaya. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post aptly posted for Shivarathri.I had no idea what each symbol means except for the third eye.Now that you have given the meanings with respect to our lives make it more interesting. Can you elaborate the meanings for these too Chitra,if it is not too much. Tiger skin,drum,Rudraksham.TIA. Love,
Dear Chitra, That was an enlightening post on Shiva...feels good to rêad it today on shivrathri! Since i am a vaishnavite, i have not been exposed to the shaivite culture....but due to my dancing i have always been in love with Lord Nataraja, and naturally Shiva is also very dear to my heart.....i have always loved dancing to the shiva songs! And dancing to the meanings and the philosphical meanings behind every aspect of Shiva.....and after coming here i have learnt more since i explain to my students too, and it has always fascinated me.... Thanks for such an apt post....will try to chant all thepotris maybe in the temple today!
