    Dear Sudha,
Your post makes me very sad - remember
    This too shall pass
Do not think, the next post will give you an explanation, how to come out of sorrow. Gita takes 17 chapters to explain it.
But do not get depressed & muster all moral trength to pass through trying times.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear C

Many thanks for this post. It is a very lucid explanation and provides a very different dimension to what we know about Gita in the outset. This is a keeper especially to read when we are complaining or feeling undue grief. There are your own pearls of wisdom indicating that the pain is not sorrow but complaining about it is. This just leaves me wanting for more...!

    Dear Gayathri,
Your F B is so nice.
More than sharing our happiness, we have a tendency to openly brood whenever we face sorrow. Happiness shared is multiplied, but we love to talk more about our sorrow. It is not going to help us in any way & it is as though we are asking for pity !
I do hope, my posts on Gita will come up to your expectations !
    Love,
    Chithra.

Physical pain is not sorrow, but complaining about the same is sorrow. The problem lies in thinking that we are not happy or well when everyone else is ! This shloka is self-centred sorrow & is a result of ignorance. Our wrong thinking stems from our wrong notions about our self.

Rightly put in your own words, Mrs. Chitvish, the above paragraph explains what sorrow is and what causes it namely, self-ignorance.

thanks for this wonderful post, eagerly waiting for the next.....

    Dear Bhargavi,
    Thankyou very much.
As we go into the second chapter, let me warn you, the subject becomes more abstract & subtle !
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Chithra,

Very relevant and beautiful post. We take happiness for granted, as if it is our birthright to be happy :) It shd more like a 'DUTY' to be happy, I suppose, where we endeavour to be happy at all times !

Aana..human mind chumma irukkuma !!! We keep thinking 'this and that' and confuse ourselves. And in this ultra-competitive world, this is even more of a trouble-maker...

Let us hope Gita leads us towards self-realization and eternal happiness..

    Thanks and love

Re: The seed verse of the Gita is 2.11.

    Dear Chithra,

Nice to point out the 'seed verse of the Gita' ! There is much to learn from your lines about Gita.
You say Gita points out that there is no reason for grief
and that the entire Gita shastra is one which removes sorrow....Oh, does that not make Gita the most desirable scripture to be devoured ?! I know, my reasons seem to stem from selfish motives, and as such, I may not realize that dream:) Who is there in this world who may not have one or the other form of sorrow? I can now understand that if we do not take this 'I' so importantly, much of it can be mitigated.
You got me pensive! I am enjoying your lines on Vedanta and Gita. Thank you so very much ! :)

    L, Kamla

    Dear Pavithra,
A small correction. My teacher always says
You are happiness;don't say you are happy.
Forgetting what our basic essential nature is, we seek it from outside !
So much for our ignorance !
    Thanks for your F B.
    Love,
    Chithra.

Re: The seed verse of the Gita is 2.11.

    Dear Kamla,
More than sorrow happening to us, we create our own sorrow very often !
The next few lines in the second chapter are really hard hitting !
Whether we will follow the teachings of the Gita in this janma or not, awareness is the first step & we must thank God for that !
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Mrs. C,

Loved this post. You explanation was superb. Recently I came to know if you don't complain you don't feel sorrow instead you feel happy. I think true happiness is in
the state of the mind. Thanks for a lovely post.
