Meenu You have started thinking like a writer!

    Dear Meenu,
now you have started thinking like a writer. Actually this is a good exercise. When you see a movie, read a story or watch a serial, try to guess the next move. Then compare that with what the author writes. Then assess which is better - yours or the authors. That way you will be steadily honing your writing skills.
Only thing is along with that you should practise putting these things on paper.
As to your guess, I suggest you follow the above advice.
In your FB to the next episode tell me honestly, which is better, yours or mine.
    ok?
    regards,
    varalotti

    Was a compelling read.

Dear Sridhar...though I read the episode as soon as I saw it, it took me so long to be here with my fb. Sometimes, life gets hectic and its okay, I don't want to complain. Better this way than the opposite!
Yes, many things seem to happen in this novella with a rapid succession. Well, Neha Kapoors were bound to happen to this handsome star Ramkumar. But did a Raghavan need to happen to Vidya is another question. But then, how do we fight destiny? I sure hope and feel that it is Raghavan who has payed the price in this story, the price of a wholesome life with a loving wife. Nevertheless, Vidya too has paid a costly price, whichever way you see it. She has suffered and looks like, will suffer more. Which is a shame.

    L, Kamla

    I missed you!

    Dear Kamla,
I almost started missing your FB. And sure enough to prove that though late, you will be the latest, you came in with your FB.
Why should Vidya pay the price for what Raghavan did? A very poignant and a deep question.
Many times we are tempted to eat unwholesome food because we cannot control our taste buds, we cannot control our tongue. But once the food is eaten it is the stomach and the internal system that pays the price for the indiscretion while the tongue which enjoyed tasty food keeps wagging its way through life.
Vidya is the stomach and Raghavan is the tongue. Many a time we see the children suffering for what their parents have done. Take the case of divorce.

The couples fight while the children suffer. The same thing has happened here.

Thanks for the FB and thanks for making me think on a deep question.
    regards,
    sridhar

    Two weeks episode combined

    Dear Sridhar,
I did read price for the past two weeks but could not write my opinion as I got distracted with other things. I was wondering what role is Ramnath playing in R and V's life? I am not sure. As far as Raghavan is concerned I thought he was driven and chasing his dreams. Now I am not sure with Neha entering the picture.
I think it is high time that Vidhya end this relationship with Raghavan. Chander altogether turned out to be a good soul. I am not sure where this is going. Can't wait till Sat. Hope the ending is not a tragedy.
    Bye and take care,

    I am Touched, Anjana!

    Dear Anjana,
I am simply touched by your kind gesture of advising my characters. Fictional characters seeming to be real ones, is the best compliment you can pay to a writer. And you have done that. Thanks.
The next episode (slightly longer 1300 words) would be the concluding episode. Till then, sit back and relax.
I plan to post it on Friday evening itself.
    regards,
    sridhar

The Price Has Come To An End!

    Most Gracious ILites,

Thanks for being with me throughout this short novel. Yes, with this week, The Price has come to an end. Just now posted the final episode. Everybody was worrying about the climax. But let me remind you that this story started with the climax. I described the climax scene in the first episode and the entire story happens in flashback mode.

Saturdays With Varalotti will continue with the same serial number. Each week we will be discussing something controversial

My duty is to write and not to preach. But having given such a heavy story like The Price I cannot help saying a few words.

Everyday we are handling so many transactions. Every time we get something we pay the price for it. It is needless to say, but I shall say it
nevertheless, that there's nothing called free lunch in the world. As an accountant I know very well that in all cases where the price tag is hidden, the price will invariably be exorbitant and disproportionate.

Before concluding any transaction just double-check the price you are going to pay for it. Particularly look for the hidden price tags. As Actor Ramkumar, my hero, says, 'Life is a strict trader. It does not allow returns or exchanges."

And if you are constantly aware of this fact, your life would be one long honeymoon.
May the Great God bless you all with infinite happiness.

Please stay tuned for more in this thread.

    With Warm Regards,
    yours affectionately,
    Varalotti

did Chandar call Neha and put the mobile on??? hmmmm this turn was expected Ramkumar/ raghavan leaving wife vidya? i think she should have already accepted that she lost him once he entered that field as she already warned him....she too knew what they were getting into....so no surprises to both of them isnt it???

The serial is called price as everybody is paying a price for their actions and their preferences. Even though they all knew what they bargained for still when it comes to paying the price they feel the pinch. Sorry for the delay in responding to your fb.
