A agree. all parents have a right to name their kids they want.
And why have a bleak outlook for the poor baby? he may yet give a new and better meaning to his name. As all Rams are mot Devine, all timurs may not be murderers.

Seriously?? That sounds like the names of English monarchs before enthronement , like Arthur Philip David Henry George. Ultimately Arthur, Philip, David and Henry are dropped and only george remains. What possessed your classmate's family to name her like that. I suspect it must have been a huge joint family and everyone wanted to give the child their favorite name and as a compromise all names were given. Hope there was no fight among familyh members on which name should come first. I am sure the name gave the class teacher a real good exercise for her arm by making her fill three lines of the attendance register with it. Echchi is short but not sweet reminding one of spit.

I salute their courage in naming the kid Taimur. They have gone where no parents have ever been before.BTW in a movie starring Kareena and Aamir, there is a character called Timur essayed brilliantly by the versatile actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Even in our family or neighborhood or anyone I know around me or far far relatives doesn't keep the name Sita. Not even other names of her like Janaki, mythili.

May be the names produces energy when they are pronounced.

    A good humorous read @Balajee
I am so glad my parents had "future gnana dhristi" about my looks and did not name me Sundari. If they had, I would have been the subject of your article too. :)

That is strange because Janaki and Mythili are quite common names. I know people who would hesitate to name a girl Sita but would suffix it with Lakshmi to ensure the girl has good fortune.

Haha I wouldn't have risked that! That could have been construed as personal attack and even the moderators might be up in arms.

    Of course @Balajee . I know you won't.
Was just kidding. :) (I am trying to jolt my long-hibernating humor muse - not very successful though)
