Passengers on a British Airways flight from London to Dusseldorf in Germany were met with a surprise Monday morning when their plane touched down in the Scottish capital Edinburgh..The error was due to an incorrectly filed flight plan. The concerned are working closely to investigate how the mix up occurred.[Recent press report]. In 2018 a Delhi bound train from Panipet ended up at the old Delhi station instead of New Delhi station-a result of confusion by the log operator who mixed up train nos. Such mix ups happen in life. All of us dream and aspire to reach a goal but in many cases somewhere down the road, some thing happens to create a road block. What do we do in such cases? We lament about extraneous factors which hijacked our journey. instead of looking from within whether the flight plan was correctly filed When things don’t turn up as expected,we reach a stage of executive menopause as Sharu Rangnekar said. Harold Genene in his book Managing says that life is not like reading a book from the first to last page but from last page which shows the destination to previous pages which outline the road map to reach the destination.[slightly tweaked quote] Life has a destination. We have to be clear of our destination and provide the inputs to reach the destination..Perfection is not ordinary performance of extraordinary individuals but extraordinary performance of ordinary individuals. In management courses we have been told of the difference of a potato peeler vs fingerchip maker and stone cutter vs sculptor During our days we accepted parents suggestion to become a graduate. Not any more.A bright boy has joined a music band and enjoying his work.Another boy became a photographer.Starting with marriage functions he has graduated to covering enents..Another boy has done his PG diploma in catering and working as a chef in a hotel in the Middle east. There are two reasons for this approach. One is the security provided by parents[which we did not have]and the plethora of opportunities in unconventional fields. “ Life is a cafeteria. You can get anything you want as long as you are willing to pay the price..You can even get success. But you will never get it if you wait for someone to bring it you.You have to get up and get it your self.” Shiva and Parvathi were up in the sky when they saw a poor devotee chanting OM Namashivaya and sauntering along the road.Parvati asked Shiva to help him-an ardent devotee.Shiva replied that the devotee does not help himself but however obliged Parvati by creating a pit on the gravel road ,filling it up with cash and jewellery and covering it up with a stone. The devotee stumbled on the stone and fell down.He cursed the stone and carried on.Another man who followed him similarly stumbled but realising that somebody may get hurt removed the stone and put it on the side of the road.To his surprise he found the treasure and carried it with him.Shiva proved a point that God helps only those who help themselves. A management philosophy explained by my grandma and not Harvard. Douglas Maloch- if you cant be a highway, then just be a trail If you cant be the sun,be a star It is not by the size you win or fail Be the best of whatever you are. “Failure should be our teacher and not our undertaker”. . .
