    Hi friends .

Here i came with the history of moodanambikai .(myth)

In our regular life, we follow many instructions from our elders without knowing the reason, offcourse the elders also don't know the reason so,obviously we too .

Recently i read a story about moodanambikai, i would like to share with u , then let us all decide that whether it is important to follow such myths or not .

In ancient period there was a calm and peace full ashram where many students (shishyargal) where studying in that ashramam ,

On one fine day , When Gurji was taking class to his students ,a cat came across and disturbed them a lot , Gurji got frustrated and instructed the student to tie it every day on the tree to avoid the disturbance from the cat , student also followed it everyday .

Day goes rolling and rolling students finished their gurukulam and went off even the guruji also died , But tieing a cat on the tree become a tradition in Gurukulam to the next set of students ,

whenever there is a class in ashramam , they started to believe that tieing a cat only helps them to have their lessons quite well ,
    :biglaugh

This is because ,no students want to question their gurujis so it become a tradition .After a period even if any students ask question there will be no answer because they don"t know ?

Hearing this story many of us will feel what a funny belief they had , Yes we are right!, but we know the full story so we are in a position to segregate what is good and what not is myth .

Today even in this 20th century we are also believing many myths, as like the students and also following it ,
Off course we may not be wrong now , but ,At the moment when we starts to question and think about the word" Why"?

we will definitely know how far, we too have fallen in the clutch of moodanambikai .

I am not saying about all the cultural practices as moodanambikai but certain things which we feel is illlogical can be quesioned?

Will we retrieve ourself from moodanambikai .?

Excellent thought posted with a superb example Hema. Three cheers for that. We really need to sit up and think why we do what we do. But it has become a done thing to just do what is demanded of us in the name of "tradition" without ever stopping to think of the rationale behind it if any and of its relevance to the present times.
