    Dear Devika Chechi,

Truly a touching and heart wrenching story...never ever wish that anyone need to face this kind of situation in one's life ! Extremely painful to even read and contemplate about this. Imagine the plight of the mother...in a way...i should say..she is brave to take this decision !

I was extremely shaken on reading this and refrained myself from replying immediately...hence the delay....

    Cheers
    Krithika

    Devika,
An emotional one indeed., and also it is a fact that somebody faces it sometimes in their life.....I go with Kanchana in this front...
Recently I saw a programme in TV, where the speaker was narrating a similar incident and how they (she and her husband) wished that their son dies before they are....felt very sad and was moved for many days...
Aborting the baby in the womb, when they discover that the child is going to suffer in terms of some terminal illness( where there is a need for a constant companion) or would be having a down syndrome....the decision the parents had to make, falls on those lines with Kanchana....

    Dear Krittika,

Thankyou so much dear for writing in despite yourself. Yes We always hope that nobody suffers such trauma. I agree that for a mother it is extremely difficult to make a choice during such times, but here very little left in terms of option.

Thankyou for writing in Krittika. I truly appreciate your FB.

    Love,
    Devika Chechi

    Dear Srini,

Thanks a ton for writing in.

I agree with the decision of the aborted foetus espcially if it is known that the foetus has very little chance of normal growth.Life is a long struggle for those inflicted with problems like downs syndrome.
Some decicions are very tough to make, but then in cases like this the chances of having any option seems remote, so the best available way out was her final decision.

Thanks once again Srini for you lovely FB.

    Love,
    Devika

    Dear Sowpar,

Thankyou for the FB. Yes it does make one speechless when one sees another side of life that one is not aware exists, but there are certain such sad situations in life where dilemma about what has to be done in terms of morality , ethics, responsibility etc. is questioned and then a decision taken.

    Thanks for writing in Sowpar

    Love,
    Chechi
