Look at that bird fly in the sky,
I can't do that, no matter how much I try.
On terra firma I am sentenced to stay
Friends, can you just tell me why, can you say?

I crave to fly to the world beyond
My little world, just take a round
Of the globe which is mine to inhabit,
But only a minute bit to inherit.

Tell me friends, do you think it fair
That I must live here, not dream of going there
    Without obtaining a paper permit,
Or my visit would be deemed “illegitimate”

Who gave us humans the power to say
Who comes on a visit and who may stay?
Why is it that we think it right
To shoo away some, who gave us that might?

God had already divided the earth,
And as HE did that He shook with mirth
As the land split and the oceans came
    Our natural wanderlust to tame.

But then in His mercy HE gave us the power,
With intelligence and emotions HE did shower
Humans, so that aircrafts we may build
And visit each other as we willed.

But alas we used those mighty brains
To fight each other in a manner insane.
The power to love has gone to rust
Other races we do not trust.

We divide our homes, our land, our hearts,
Each inherits just a tiny part.
Don't come here, this is my land,
Any problem was caused by the foreign hand.

Why can't I just fly at will?
There is so much that I haven't seen still.
For me the very finest way to worship
Would be to make round the earth a trip.

For the earth is to me my God's creation,
HE did not intend its joys to ration.
He wished me a path over the whole to trace
See all there is and HIS work with wonder praise.
HE is the creator of all seasons,
Of every beast, man and woman.
What right do we have to pray
When God's basic laws we disobey?

Folks, wake up! Listen to God's orders
    Create a world without borders!
Please each other do tightly embrace
Live life fully, with perfect grace!

Wake up! This world to everyone belongs,
Everything in it including rights and wrongs.
Go everywhere that you were intended to go,
And in doing so, to the Creator bow!

    And praise that eternal Magician,
Whose powers extend beyond human reason!
Be grateful for all that you have received,
And give up your ways so false and deceived!

That when you eventually get back HOME
After having the whole world roamed,
HE will welcome you back with open arms
And you can rest there forever, happy and calm
For an eternity at complete peace
And happiness at your Heavenly father's knees.
With all your siblings black, brown and white
Holding each other's hands, never again to fight.

Many would feel that this is a rather utopian dream. But "real" and "utopian" are words coined by humans and upto humans to define.

    Dear Satchi,

Simply marvellous a thought crafted in finesse!!!
Each of your verses made me go spell-bound by your sheer magnitude of thinking and the apt words to express the same.

Was deeply touched by the last verse and noted it down in my diary:
    >That when you eventually get back HOME
After having the whole world roamed,
HE will welcome you back with open arms
And you can rest there forever, happy and calm
For an eternity at complete peace
And happiness at your Heavenly father's knees.
With all your siblings black, brown and white
Holding each other's hands, never again to fight.

Great poem there and expecting more such from your desk!!

    Cheers,
    Saras.

I quote your own words to speak out my heart here...

This is the home we are eagerly waiting for to reach.

BTW, being a bird has always my dreams, because I think so much freedom they enjoy and can fly wherever they want!

Very beautiful poem, one again from you, Dear Satchi!

Satchi dear very nice poem . I also wish I had wings and flown wherever I want but all our dreams dont come true. We see the crows and other birds and feel that they are lucky to fly but if you ask them , they will say we are not able to be on the earth, have always to be scared if someone will touch us.

I also liked the last para, feel glad to know that He will be there with open arms , what else we want, wherever we go at last we have to come to our sweet home and sweet home is the best where you get everything, whether the home is big or small but the people there have a big heart.

Thought provoking poem, well narrated, kudos to you

Beautiful poem, Satchi and i loved these two verses.
And when some days we are caught up in heavy traffic I wish I had wings to fly to my destination.

A great poem Satchi. First I thought I will quote a few lines here and there and then comment on it. Well, that would be doing injustice to the other lines of the poem. That will be repeating the blunder of men who choose some countries over the other. And who chooses who should visit them and who should not.

There is nothing poetic or artistic about what is actually there. For if it were so a photograph would become a great work of art. On the other hand a painting which though captures not the complete reality is a perfect work of art.

I was simply bowled over by the last few lines of the poem which I am tempted to quote here.

That when you eventually get back HOME
After having the whole world roamed,
HE will welcome you back with open arms
And you can rest there forever, happy and calm
For an eternity at complete peace
And happiness at your Heavenly father's knees.
With all your siblings black, brown and white
Holding each other's hands, never again to fight.

I wish that there is at least one sensible Minister of Education in this country of 1.2 billion who makes this poem a mandatory reading for all children between ages 10 and 14. Better still to make parts of it as a prayer song.

Thanks so much Kalyani. Yes, me too keep envying them for being able to fly at will and go from end to end without any need for passports, visas, borders, security checks ...... But then I guess they are wiser than humans.
