    Hi all,

Anybody familiar with making masala tea? Need tips.

My usual ingredients for masala tea used to be 1/2 inch ginger (smashed) + 2 elaichis(powdered) to the usual mix of tea powder + sugar + water + milk.

Is there anything else that needs to be added to make it more flavored?

    Love,
    Vinu

You can also add powdered cinnamom and 2 to 3 crushed black pepper to make masala tea.

While cardamom and cinnamon gives good flavor to masala tea, ginger and black pepper are good for stimulating digestion.

    Badam (Almond) Tea

    Badam (Almond) Tea

    Ingredients:

    1 1/2 cups water
2 tsp dried tea leaves or tea powder
    1/2 cup whole milk
    1-2 tsp sugar
2 tbsp. almonds (badam), finely powdered

    Method:

    1. Mix powdered almonds in milk and heat for few minutes. When the milk gets boiled well, strain the milk and keep aside.
    2. Boil the water and add the tea leaves. When the concoction starts boiling, remove it from the fire.
    3. Pour out the above almond milk into 2 cups. Place a strainer on one cup and pour 1/2 cup of the tea concoction. Repeat the process for the second cup.
    4. Remove strainer, add sugar as per taste and stir the tea well.

    Re: Masala Tea

    Hello!
Are there any green tea drinkers here? We have started on green tea since 1 month and it is a developed taste!
Green tea is said to contain powerful anti-oxidants, helps in lowering blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol, kills bacteria that cause stomach upsets, etc.
No milk should be added to the tea decoction, because milk destroys the good characteristics of the tea. I am a diabetic, so I add a little bit dried ginger-dhania seeds-pepper powder and drink it. My husband takes it with a spoon of honey or palm jaggery [panaivellum] syrup - tastes good.

    Re: Masala Tea

Green tea is quite popular here and many have opted for it instead of our regular tea. Me being the eternal skeptic, would suggest that it is better to consume everything within a certain limit. Better not overdo anything for another study might pop up belying the already existing beliefs.

    Re: Masala Tea

    Tea Masala

Dry Ginger & Green Cardamom ( Equal portions each , may be 50 gms each)
    Cinnamon :25 gms
    Black pepper : 5 gms
    Sauf : 1 Tsp
Tulasi leaves : one handful ( need not dry in sun)
    A Pinch of Nutmeg powder
    Approx 10 Dhania seeds.

Dry all the ingredients together and make powder. Store in an airtight container.Add 1/4 sp to 1 cup of tea. Actually, sauf & tulasi leaves give verygood taste and aroma.

You can even avoid adding tulasi leaves to the powder and add few fresh tulasi leaves while tea is boiling alog with the tea masala. I do this regularly at home and it gives a very refreshing feeling.

Please try this nd give me feedback.

    Takecare,
    Prema
