    Hi All,

I will be travelling to India soon,

can anyone suggest how to take beads and gems from here?
I have bought 2nd quality pearls, beads and Coral.
Is there a limit of how much we carry.

Putting it all together I have about 30 strands of them

    Thanks
    malar

    hi,

u can carry them without any problem. i generally carry the costlier ones in my carry on for the fear that someone might take it in indian cutoms. every time i carry some strands or the other. no problems so far. so u r good.

Beads after beads (or other gem shows ) typically dont have the Italian corals.
I bought mine at Indian jewellery stores which sell 22kt gold. They are expensive and a black pepper size coral strand roughly costs $100.Hope this helps,

If u bought it at beads after beads and at $4 then it most likely chinese white coral dyed in orange.
White corals are abundant and the labor from there is cheap. The dyes are pretty good and they last.
Itlalian corals are naturally orange...and rare.

    hi,

i think the best place to buy coral or other gems is gem show only. i have checked the coral quality in some of the leading jewelry shops in chennai like GRT i have said that those are a good quality ones and they were able to tell that it generally comes from canada and worth buying for the money what i quoted.
