T.V. News Channels - the new encyclopedia for kids

I mostly watch only news on T.V. I am not a great fan of serials except for "desperate housewives" which I try not to miss.

As most of you are aware, India is gearing up for Presidential elections. Most news channels these days are covering the story. Some time back Mr. Sangma was being interviewed on his candidature for the post. Like most kids his age, my son too has an opinion on everything and is usually curious to know whats happening around him. He quizzed me on Mr. Sangma :

"Maa, whose this ?"
"This is Mr . P. Sangma"
"Sangma who ?"
"He could possibly be the next President"

My son looked bewildered and gave his classic one "But how can India have a Chinese President ?"

I was into splits. I decided to prod him further on his knowledge of politicians and others [the credit of which goes to our news channels]. Here is our hilarious conversation :

WHO IS..........

Pratibha Patil - She is our President who hardly comes on T.V.

Sonia Gandhi - An Italian who speaks good Hindi

Rahul Gandhi - Her son who loves the poor and who wants to be the Prime Minister.

Meira Kumar - She is the teacher who monitors the politicians in the Parliament

Anna Hazare - A protestor who keeps protesting but no one listens

Arnab Goswami - He invites people to his news show and then does not allow them to speak.

Mayawati - Someone who loves collecting elephant statues

Mamata Bannerjee - Some didi who is always angry at the government

Yeddyurappa - He was the chief minister earlier but has lost his seat. And now he goes here and there with his followers searching for his seat.


The world is so simple when seen through the eyes of a kid !!
