    Hi Friends / Ilites

Hope all of you are doing good.

Iam a working woman and a mother to 1.5 years old kid. (Working Mom)

I feel that you need to be a super woman to manage both work and home.
Though the people with whom we work at offices are mostly aware of the scenario at the home with a new mom, they still act to be very insensitive.

I feel the european counterparts are much more co-operating and sensitive to personal commitments.

Managing work and home.........ahhhhhhh, I feel constantly on the move.

Either iam at office working or at home looking after the household chores , thinking what to cook, looking after the kid, feeding him.......etc etc.

Absoloutely no time for personal interests. Some times I feel what is that that Iam gaining out of this constantly juggling.

What is the ultimate goal of my life ?

Everyone wants you to be perfect. Your Manager wants you to be a perfect employee, your family wants you to be perfect wife / Mother / DIL / DD..........

    Ahhh.............
The goal of life it to meet up to the expectations of the family or is there something more to it.

What about your personal self ? Doesn't it need your time, care, affection, love and nourishment.

Please input your personal comments on this topic. I know there are many Ilites out there who would have been or currently in this situation.

Tell me how you manage your time, your interests.........

The secret to Happiness and Peace......... ( Many may say its a state of mind.......... :), but how do i achieve it ?)

    Dear Sobhi

Yes it is difficult to manage home and office but we have to do it with a smile on our face. I was also a working woman and worked for 38 years. As you say we have to please our bosses and others in the office and at home the family people.

At home during the functions we have to take leave and in the office they refuse leave when we need it urgently. Since I was working in Finance Department looking after Bank Reconciliation and in the family I was the eldest daughter in law it was really difficult especially during any functions at home and after the chidlren were born. But somehow managed. If we have the co operation of our family members we can manage. Usually marriages in the house take place during April and May due to summer holidays and that time only we have audit in the office so sometimes they used to refuse to give leave but I used to manage somehow.

When you get used to this life you will be able to manage.

    love

"What about your personal self ? Doesn't it need your time, care, affection, love and nourishment."

I wrote about the need to have one's personal space and time, here's the link

    Dear Shobha
I find that you have been a member of this community for close to three years but have just written a little over 50 posts and this is just your second thread. You seem to write well, your language is smooth. I wish you take writing as a serious hobby. That will reduce the monotony of your daily chores. Most of us hate what we are doing every day because of the sheer lack of variety.

A guy called Robert Benchley says that “Anyone can do any amount of work, provided it is not the work he is supposed to be doing!” This hits the nail on its head. This is what I am trying to tell you that variety is the spice of life. Even if you have no scope for infusing variety into what you are doing, try doing it in different ways.

The greatest blessing in life is to be extremely busy. A Management Guru says, “If you want work well done, select a busy man-the other kind has no time” This is again a profound statement. A busy man builds a reputation for being task oriented and may even go to the extent of punishing himself in this process. Naturally everyone will flock to him for any urgent work. As a Senior Executive of a Bank in the nineties, I have always observed that only about 20% of the staff will be doing 80% of work. As a Manager with a specific schedule, I always went to them again and again. You should pat yourself on the back if that is your situation in the work space.

At your home, you are the Monarch of all you survey. There the motive for work comes from within. Learn to love the work you do. You’ll see the difference!

    Dear

I was a working woman. had a huge family of mil,. fil, sil, bil, hus and 2 kids with no servant at home. So you can imagine what my schedule would have been. I had to travel 10 km one way daily to reach the office. There you cant expect any flexibility since mine was a private firm. But dear I loved my work at office as well as at home. I never felt self pity for my over work. I feel proud that I ma managing both my office and family really well. That will charge you more. Love what you are doping then you wont feel exhausted.

Now I was not working for the past three years and I found it suffocating sitting at home. I joined a school for special children to do service. I would say without Indus, my craft works, reading habit etc I will become mad. You are young. and this is the time to run and do work dear. enjoy every bit of it. You are capable.

    Hello Cheeniya Sir

Thanks a lot for dropping by . You cant imagine how happy iam.
You made my DAY. ( This is truly out of my heart)

Yes I became a member in 2007, but I was totally unaware that so much of information was available and various topics were discussed here in IL.

I have really missed out on interacting with some GEM's of IL like yourself, Chitra Mam, Sridhar Sir of Varallotti and probably many more...........

Iam currently busy reading all the posts of the 3 people I listed above and posting my comments :)

I was busy building my career and also may be the maturity level at that time was different. Now slowly i have begin on a path of self exploration.

Thanks for providing your valuable feedback. I will make a note of the comments you mentioned.

Yes iam busy with handful of Jobs both at home and office and no hard feelings about it. Just the occasional mood swings :)

I feel IL is a great forum to pour your heart out, make friends and gain some really really good knowledge from people of all stages of life.

    Hey Ganges

Thanks for dropping by and sharing your experience.

It has given me a instant dose for energizing me up. Thanks a lot.
Yes I think its possible to be a super woman. Only that sometimes we are beaten by these occasional mood swings and feel low.

One of my uncle says that the power of our mind is Infinite. We make use of probably only 0.1 % of it.

    regards
