For the specifications you have mentioned, places in Himachal Pradesh and Utharakhand will match your expectations. Have a look at their tourism development corporation websites.

    Hello Asha_ram,

Have you ever thought about visiting the famous wild-life parks in East Africa and South Africa? My husband and I made a trip to the Serengeti National park in Tanzania. It is one the largest national parks and once in a life-time experiance. From there you could visit the world's largest crater - Ngorongoro crater. It is amazing because there is actually wildlife inside the crater. Left, right and center....you are in the midst of lush greenery. And yes, you can also see Africa's largest peak...Mount Kilimanjaro. The spice Island of Zanzibar is very close by and since you are living in the Gulf, you may find the town of Zanzibar very interesting.

Tanzania is a wonderful and picturesque green destination. The tourism facilities are very good and you will be able to find a package suitable to your budget. Getting around is very easy as there is a very large local Asian-origin population who are always ever ready to help.
Dar-Es-Salaam is not very far from Dubai and you could use it as a center point to cover up some good sight seeing.

    Happy Holidaying!!!

I guess a Europe trip would be wonderful. Have been In Germany for the past two years and done a lot of travel and the beauty of their landscapes and serenity seem to have no parallels.
If this idea interests you, please do write back and i can sure make more suggestion for you about traveling in Europe.

I have been told by friends that there are package tours ranging from 15days to 1month and they cover quite a few of these beautiful places. Am sure it'll be worthy all your time and money. Do give it a thought!

    HI
I second Tanzania-it is absolutely gorgeous...the national parks are great for kids...

Europe has some great mountain scenery and trekking..look up Bodensee-lots of little towns around it in Austria, Germany and Switzerland...Konstanz, Meersburg, Lindau are some of the more famous ones...there is a lot of hiking and water sports around there-ofcourse factor in the weather:)

Koengsee area is gorgeous too... you can stay in any of the small towns around it-Schonau is probably one of the more famous ones. From here you can take the boat ride on Koenigsee to the other lake-obersee and hike in the mountains. You can do day trips to Berchtesgaden, salzburg, munich (if you find u miss the city after all)

Further west, the Island of Mann is to die for-there is a seagull route-a hiking path all along the coast of the island, it is not crowded and has some gorgeous beaches...apparently when McDonalds opened here all the big banks had their Christmas party there-it was such a novelty...so this is only if you like very different settings...you'll need a car to really explore the island. If you have young kids this is a great place, coz they can ride the original train on which Thomas the tank engine is based...

Ireland is another great place-if you don't mind the random rain...Killarney is a great place to stay-there is lots of history and breathtaking scenery-the ring of kerry is worth the trip. But if you have kids who are picky eaters-and if they are comfortable with a western diet, this will be fine...otherwise make sure you book an apartment where you can pack your own food...though if you like seafood it is a great place to be-they bring the catch in and then make you your lunch at the restaurants.

If distance is not a problem, try places like Costa Rica-very safe, very friendly and stunning scenery. Kids will enjoy treks up cloudforests and rainforests, there are lots of activities for kids, volcanic spas for adults and beaches-the touristy kind like Tamarindo and the quieter family oriented kind like Samara-there is snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking...along with other water sports.

It maybe too late for Alaska for this year but that is one option-Even Anchorage feels different-Palin notwithstanding;) Closest to a pioneer city, even if the locals feel it has changed over the years. There are glaciers to see/walk along, glaciers to land on and amazng sounds-kayaking, lots of water sports and hiking. There's Denali Natioal park and if you take the airtaxi, you get to fly over Mt. Denali and land on a glacier-and nature feels imposing-expensive though and dependent on the weather as Mt. Denali has it's own weather patterns. So even if you plan for it, you may find that the airtaxis don't fly that day!
I will try to look for some pictures and post them..
