    Dear Ilites,

I have been scouring the markets for a substitute of the tangy date chutney used as a dip for Indian snacks.

Can you recommend any local chutneys which bring out the same flavour when consummed with chaat.

I am confused which of the chutneys viz. Rhubarb and Plum, Tangy Tomatoes, Date and Plum , Caramelized Medley would blend perfectly with Indian food.

    Appreciate your assistance.

    Hi sabitha
i think tangy tomatoes can be a better choice but ofcourse sans the sweetness present in date chutney, date and plum is not bad.

    Hi

We actually use Apple Butter which can be bought from Shoprite and is of Shoprite brand. To add some tamarind pulp, salt, red chilli powder and a bit of sugar...and its as good as traditional chat chutney.
    hope this helps
