I tried putting lemon in water and heating it up for 2 to 3 mins..but this did not help.

Put two cups of water with 2 tbsp baking soda. Boil it for 3 minutes.

Take it out and wipe the Microwave. Do this for couple of times wit fresh water.

Then wipe it with Mr. Clean Sponge. That takes the smell away.

    Good luck. :cheers

    Hi Pandu,
Baking soda gets rid of most smells. Buy a small box. Take a couple spoonsful and mix with little water, enough to make a paste (should be a bit runny not like dough). Apply to the inside of the microwave. Let sit for a minute or two and then wipe it down with warm water. Leave the box of baking soda inside the microwave for a couple of days. It should take care of the smell.

    Thanks,
    OOPALL

We had a microwave fire incident(over heated samosas :bonk) and nothing took away the burnt smell, I tried clorox green works cleaner(all natural made of lime), just spray around and wipe it off after some time and it took away the smell.
Baking soda is another option to get rid of bad odor. You can get a small pack at any convenience/grocery store for less than $1.

Try it with cloves, cinnamon and etc. Put a bowl of water and add this 1 or two small pieces and cover with paper towel. It may work.

Or put lots of water in a glass bowl and add 1/2 tsp dish washing powder of liquid. boil the water. try the same thing if you have vinegar or add cut lemons.

Let me know if any one of it works.

    Good luck
