Lord brahma had initially zero knowledge of creation. He approached Naradha to discover the nitty-gritty but to no avail. His four sons ridiculed him to accept such an onerous responsibility and flatly refused to share even an iota of burden of the complex creation work.

He then solicited the programme of creation from Lord Vishnu who had suggested to approach Lord Mahadeva. The latter then manifested before Brahma and disclosed the process of creation.

Thus enlightened, Brahma produced the maiden pair of Manu & Brahmi.

This is one of the tales ending in a delectable surprise for Brahmi!
