    Stay Selfish and Ahamkari.

There is every possibility that some of you would call me ‘gone crazy ‘. What sort of advice is this? Have heard of Stay Blessed, Stay Happy, Stay Healthy, but Stay Selfish!
I will explain. For centuries, we have been taught to be selfless. Accordingly, we tried also. Has it worked? The answer is, No. Then, why chase a car we can't drive?

Here is what we should do:-

    1. Get up early in the Brahmmuharta and go for a morning walk.. Remember, early to bed early to rise, makes a man healthy and wise. There will be some disturbing sounds not very pleasant for the loved ones who are not used to getting up this early unholy hour but ignore them. They do not matter. What matters is your Self.

    2. Back home, ask for your cup of tea immediately and snatch the newspaper from whosoever he/she may be. They will grumble but ignore them. They don't.....!

    3. Occupy the bathroom for as long as you want or till you finish the newspaper reading. There will be knocking on the door and sounds of me too by other troubled souls but ignore them. They don’t,.....!

    4. Demand priority in the family from food to TV remote to anything and everything. They will protest but ignore them. They don’t.......!

    5. It is but natural that if you have to get up early, you must retire early. Go to bed at 9 pm and ask everyone, your spouse included, to ensure that nothing is done to disturb your tranquility. They will make some noise but ignore them. They don’t………!.

    6. The list is long. I have limited it to households only because ‘charity begins at home’. Each one of us can be a perfect model of Selfish Self. All that it needs is determination.

(CAUTION: -This will work only if you are the sole earning member in the family or a senior with a fat bank balance. So, if you do not are either, follow on your own risk )

An entertaining but sure recipe for disaster.Even without your advice quite a few people are already following the steps. In one such house when the breadwinner said he was going out the reply was a chorus-take your own time.Multi tasking in the rest room including laptop, whatsup etc is assuming menacing proportions off late

:hello:A beautiful thought woven probably with heavy heart. Kudos to op.
For Traditionally rich it is easy to be broad minded but upstarts, overnight riches find it difficult to be so. Robin hood is an exception.
    2. Poverty might determine one to be selfish but again I think age do matter.
    3. Have seen poor selfish became rich and turned philanthropist.
    4. But it is natural for majority of human beings to be selfish as it comes with less effort. 5. We see people in chennai do not follow queue system at bus stop and termini whereas in Mumbai even in peak monsoon, commuters await their turn in queue. Might is right in many places as in local trains.
    6. Seats reserved for senior citizens would be occupied by youngsters and as they see some old man or woman entering the bus, they would pretend closing their eyes as if they are in profound sleep.
    7. Some seen suddenly turn samaritans but might have hidden agenda.
    8. Only crows are seen regularly to call other crows when they spot food .

    Thanks and Regards.

Haeiji, instead of bedroom occupy the loo with your newspaper. No one will dare to disturb you. (But this will work only if you have modern toilets and not pit latrines and that too more than one)/ Toilets are the best place to catch up with your reading and to meditate. (Provided the loos don't stink to high heaven).

There was a very enlightening discussion on TV. Shashi Tharoor and Saran has written a book on New World Order. One of the phrase used was Elite people and street people. It is about the fate of 20% people at the bottom of the economic ladder and less than 1% people at the top. This has not changed. That is why I say only those who have some power can afford to be selfish and Ahamkari. Social order has not changed much.

Very true. Some, not all are made of different soil. They have little or no respect for others.

    Dear Balajee,
I said bathroom and not bedroom. We may call it loo or rest room or toilet or whatever. It is not applicable to houses with more than one bathroom or loo where every room has a attached bathroom cun toilet. I am talking of DDA MIG flats in Delhi. Even those have also been modified now.
Any which way, there are other options to be selfish and ahamkari if one has the requisite arsenal.

    Dear Hari Sir,

After seeing the success of President Trump doing what you suggested above, many in the US are already likely to be a Narcissist. Twitter might be tempted to use the platform of the toilet to proliferate the use of 280 characters by stating, "Berate whoever you like to, from the comfort of your own toilet. It helps you excrete physically and verbally."
