my DS is 3years 9 month old .he'll be 4 in three months.i thought of starting teaching Math with little addition ,planning to go slowly( taught him numbers till 20)My question is how to teach addition to a toddler ?do you have any interesting ideas ?one of my friend suggested to use small abacus board.but how to ?lot of question arising in my mind .i want to create maths interesting subject to him ,so want to make it interesting .please pour your ideas.:hide::hide:Is it ok to start subtraction simultaneously or let him first have some ideas about addition. don't think i'm stressing him with these stuffs ....i'll go according to his need and interest only...if he's not interested ,we'll be in play .all my teachings will be entertaining him....not burdening
Start doing it with fruits or tings he eats. Ex - keep two apples in front of him, ask him to count. Then take one away ask him again. They seem to enjoy it with things they are familiar with. Toys are even better. BUT don't force math on your child if he doesn't like it.
Dear Shobana... My DS is 4yrs old..i enrolled him kumon Math for level wise learning...Now he is in level 5A(started with 7A)..he can recognize upto 30 numbers and counts upto 30 objects.. I give him some worksheets from this website... Preschool Math Worksheets and Printables | Education.com Hope this helps.. Sravani
I would incorporate it into everyday activities. SO if he is playing with cars I will ask him to bring 2 cars & then ask him to bring 3 more and say so how many do you think I have all together? I would introduce addition first & after you see that he has got that concept then I will introduce subtraction.
