There is a story about a businessman naming his 12 children as Kesava, Narayana, Madhava, Govinda, Vishnu, Madhusudana, Drivikrama, Vamana, Sridhara, Rishkesha, Padnabha and Damodhara with a hope that he would keep saying the name of the Lord all the time. When he was in deathbed, all of his 12 adult children were next to him. He kept calling each one of them and they answered one by one and finally, the father asked, "if everyone is here, who is watching the business?" and at that moment his life came to an end. Even to be able to utter the name of God at the time of death, one should have uttered the name of God as a habit, relinquished as much as desires and thoughts as possible, followed the path of righteousness, led a life of a Trustee, achieved equanimity and surrendered the fruits of his action to the God. When we replace our thoughts and desires with the worship of the Lord, or performing good actions to the fellow-beings or experience the Truth through Agama, Anumana, Upamana or Prithyaksa, the God will get pleased. In other words, what we say or think at the time of death is based on how we pleased the God with right living, is my humble view.
