Hi all I am in a confusion:confused2:. Just now came from my pediatrician's office(well-baby visit) & after finishing regular 9-month hemoglobin test our ped said that my daughter's iron level is average and asked me give lot of green veggies.(he specially asked me to give Spinach) When I got back I called my mom & she said spinach will be difficult to digest & asked me to give only after 12 months. I didn't say anything to her either 'yes' or 'no'. But totally :confused2:. He also asked me to give chapatis with some dal & veggies. Again she said only when she has teeth it will be easy to eat. I want to do as doctor said because of the amount of iron. But . Plz help. Can I give spinach & chapatis for her (also broccoli):? Dhivya
Hi Dhivya, Totally okay to give spinach to your baby. I suggest that you pressure cook it and mash it up well( like paste) and give along with her regular food. As always when trying new foods, start out with little quantity and slowly increase. Make sure you give her daily so she does not forget the taste. With chappatis, if she does not have teeth yet, then please soak it in milk and give ( and yes at 9 months it is okay to give vit D milk) . If she has teeth , then make it really bite size pieces and soak it in dal and give. Make sure that the pieces are small enough that she will not choke . Hope this helps. Vandhana
Hi Dhivya, I totally second what Vandhana has said. You can definitely give spinach, broccoli and chappatis.
