South Beach diet

    i too had headache at the detox stage,now perfectly fine.i am down 10 pounds now.Still on Phase 2.

    hiii gurls

    i sailed thru d detox stage. for d first time in my life i was totally off carbs...cereals...fruit...sugar anddddddddddddddddd did it. i missed my fruit but it was ok. i too didnt lose very much in terms of weight maybe 1 1/2 kgs but certainly felt lightier which is more imp.

    phase 2 i feel is tougher bcuz eating the right carbohydrates isnt as simple as it sounds. esp. if u live in an extended family..... but i'm not ' off d wagon ' i keep jumping back on so that am alwayz aware of this battle with d bulge.

    i feel for anyone who is dieting its all about the 3 As :

    * AWARENESS
    * ACCEPTANCE
    * ACTION

    so we may waiver ...deviate....feel demoralized at times but the key is to keep at it at all times.

    so friends just do it !!!!!!!!!!!

    and dont forget we r together in it.

    well done nita:thumbsup.losing 11/2 kg in 2wks is not easy,keep it up.

    i am in my 6th day.haven't checked my weight.will check after 7th
    day.will keep u updated.

    All you gals have inspired me to start on SBC. Started phase 1 today.
    Breakfast, lunch and dinner was mug dal chile.
    Made a snack with pressure cooked black eyed peas and wrapped it in lettuce leaves.

    Wish me luck. I really hope I can at least complete phase 1.

    i must say a very delicious beginning.
    hey i lost 1 1/2 kgs not 11 1/2
    now i must be down by 3 kgs
    like i said phase 2 is tricky cuz choosing right carbs is not easy
    anywyz d mantra is to keep at it.

    lost 2kgs:),in 1st wk of phase-1.feels great.1 more wk to go .my target is to lose 15kgs which i have been planning to lose for 3 yrs .i hope with all ur motivation and support i'll be able to make it this time.

    Is egg yolks considered to eat while preparing omlet for bfast on phase I
    ALSO i see carrot has to be avoided in phase I how about potato??

    Even though exercise is not stressed upon for this diet,moderate exercise will be more effective.a 20 min brisk waking or cardio 3 times a week is more than enough.


    Smartgal,
    As per the diet Egg is in any form acceptable,and too both yolk and white.some years before it was widely advocated that eggs is a cause for cholesterol,which is now proved with the latest advancement.So Eating eggs is highly nutritious(proteins and vitamins).
    And carrots and Beets are not allowed.

    Avoid list in phase 1 is:
    Certain meats and poultry, including:

    Fatty cuts of beef
    Prime rib
    Dark meat chicken and turkey(turkey and chicken breast allowed)
    Honey-baked ham
    Certain vegetables, including:

    Beets
    Carrots
    Corn
    Green peas
    All starches, including:

    Bread
    Potatoes
    Cereal
    Pasta
    Rice
    All fruit and fruit juice

    Whole milk

    All alcohol

    All sweets, including

    Ice cream
    Baked goods
    Candy

    Dear Neets,

    My husband is interested in getting into this south beach diet. But I am not sure how I can modify this as per my requirements. We are pure vegetarians and do not take egg also. So I guess I can go for just Dhal and lentils and nothing else during the first phase. We should avoid corn flakes also right?? How can I make it for a vegetarian? Appreciate if you give me few suggestions.
