My rooms got cleaned up and perfect in 10 mts...Okay! I must be kidding..maybe stuff is dumped hear and there..clothes hidden but nope! everything in place and organized..clothes are hanging neat and clean..lots of space! 10 minutes back everything was lying around crazy..but now..wow!

I started decluttering last year Feb 2020..house had too many stuff out of which many I have not used for years! I started the process last year and it kept going on and on...IL friends know about my questions about how to keep things clean etc..I worked so hard some days and other days 10 mts decluttering but my home never looked neat or perfect like my neighbor's house..even if I dropped in without notice..it looked like a picture ou of a magazine cover! God know how they do it!

I did not give up..I kept on trying every day atleast 10 mts decluttering and trying to put things back in place.there were days when I cried myself to sleep that am not good at anything..even keeping the house clean..but I kept trying..hoping someday everything will fall in place.

Kept throwing away uneccessary things and thanks to covid,no need to buy anything.Today was magic..3 of my rooms got cleaned up 10 mts straight and everything was perfect and organized too! Looked simple, relaxed and super clean.Success finally!

One lesson learnt..I do not want my home to look rich.I just want neatness and space. No more buying stuff to make the house beautiful or making it look like a magazine.Let it be the way it is, simple and beautiful just the way I love:)

Just my little dosage of happiness today with my fellow IL friends..:)

I too experienced it recently... Too clean space makes us too conscious and takes away our freedom to sit and relax carelessly. Better to live freely....

True sometimes this media brainwashes us too much about perfection:D

I wanted my house to look like a magazine thing and used to buy so much of stuff only to make the house more inhospitable lol.

I do not have much talent with Interiors also.So I decided to do my best and make life easy.

Neat, simple and spacious house is more than enough.Plus I stopped buying.Saving money also now:)

Looking at the "before" and "after" pictures of houses on interior decorating blogs used to be a most stressful time for me. Because - my dream in life was to one day achieve the "before" status of most pictures.

Luckily I kind of knew when to give up. Happy with the minimal, open, airy and spacious look for most rooms. My friend does have a house that looks like the picture #1 above. I can now sincerely say, 'more power to her.' : )

Attaining that spacious look for the garage was a high point in our lives. Seeing us gazing fondly at the "space", kid suggested we move in there. : ) We celebrated by making an impromptu dash to Home Depot and picked up a shade of white with zero research. Picked up paint supplies and painted the walls and ceiling for the first time ever! The paint really added to the spaciousness as the dry-wall grey gave way to a soothing white, stroke by stroke. The ultimate achievement has been that it has remained so since then. Stuff didn't magically collect there.

The garage..am yet to start there but am confident I will get it done someday:)

I used to have white walls in my house and my relatives used to be like “Why is your home like a White House”..Immediately got my home colored within a year(honestly the light walls were so positive and miss them)and now the same relatives got their house white colored as it is the “in” thing now..

Honestly...too many lessons learnt..two of those are..

    1) minimalism
    2) Listening to your own self:) am on my way towards that..

I am done with trying to have a perfect home coz it is already perfect the way it is which I realized:)

Good one...I too have been cleaning a different cabinet or shelf every week and decluttering...found lot of stuff that needed to be thrown into the trash..due to which i got a lot of free storage space to store useful items..
