Yes u get coffee powder at all these shops but don't expect the taste to be the same as in India.....May be becoz of the pasteurized milk or something not sure...believe me i gave up drinking coffee as it's not that goodWitsend

    Hi,
You can find Bru Green label coffe powder (previously, its deluxe green label) in little india shops like maimoon, cholan, in mustafa and also there is a new shop near mustafa by name lavana agro or somethng like that (its beside new saravana bhavan near mustafa).
the price is also pretty reasonable.
When ever I go that way, I will pickup few packs of coffee powder so that it will last for atleast a month :)
    Happy Cofee Day!!!
    Regards
    Sarada

    Dear Coffee Loving Sing Ilites

In Mustaffa, Kumbakonam Degree cofee packets are available. I use it in filter as well as coffee maker to get the desired decoction. The aroma is ...bliss!

    Ways with greens and sauces.

    Hi Singlites,

I will be glad if any of you could tell me how to cook the different greens you get in the markets..the local ones I mean. Also, what is the paste called to make mee siam...rice vermicili with kai lan, tofu and "chilli sambal"? I used to get it at the shen shong super market at bendemeer. Here I dont know the shops better, so dont know what to ask for in NTUC or shop n save. Guide me pls.....

Can u also tell me which tofu is good. The brand for soy sauce, chilli and the other common sauces you use for cooking - with the least qty, I only see big bottles! Is there a site that will familiarise me with the local cooking and the ingridents.

    Thanks
    Poornima.

Re: Singapore Ladies - Introduce yourselves here!

    hi poornima,

I use braggs liquid amino, which is an excellent healthy replacement for soya sauce,u can find at organic section in ntuc.I follow indian maagi tomato ketchup, chilli sauce from mustafa.as far as tofu is concerned,u hardly get 1or2 varieties in the refrigeration section, anything goes, but if u r very particular just go through the nutrition info of that packs.
I dont have any idea abt malay/chinese cooking.

    Cheers,
    Spandhana

Re: Singapore Ladies - Introduce yourselves here!

    Hi poornidaya,

u can cook these local greens in the same way as of indian cooking, ofcousre u will not feel the same taste as the greens here will come to consumers after a long time of freezing.

the firm tofu is said to b more nutritious than the silken or soft tofu.
buy it fresh for a gd taste n refregerate the tofu in salt water .stays gd for min 4-5 days.

best option is to buy sauces frm mustafa ,and ofcourse even in mustaffa u hav both local n indian varieties of sauces.

    hope this helps

    bye
    raji
