    Is there a difference between Rangoli and Kolam ?
    I remember learning a few of these when my dad was posted in Andhra when I was a kid.

    @yellowmango , rangoli and kolams are essentially the same. In the south kolams are traditionally done
    with dots or lines using white kolam powder and called kolams:) In the north most of these designs are
    filled in with colours and hence called rangoli i suppose. Now in practice there is a fusion of both and we see
    kolams as well as rangolis in all their colours!
