I went to Cancun vacation a while back and u know they have these timeshare people in resorts who try to make us buy some
Property or invest so that we get best rooms everytime..

They were trying to get us invest and we refused and he said “You Indian people
Bargain like anything” .Firstly we didn’t even bargain and secondly he mentioned that even initially and he also mentioned a community and said we are acting like that and laughed..as a joke(?)

    Anyways..

I went to a laundromat today and wanted to iron my hubby shirts and there was a small drop of stain barely visible and she overreacted saying it has to be cleaned etc etc..I asked how much and she said six dollars and some Cents. My immediate reaction was like seven dollars for this stain? I just blurted and she was like “we have service charge this and that etc “

I am actually practicing self awareness and self reflection these days to improve myself..
I don’t know if am a kanjoos or not lol

I shop in Burlington also and in macys I first go to the rack section for cheaper section..
I buy when needed but we splurge on experiences.Parlours I think I tip quite well

Just wanted to know..what’s ur definition of kanjoos?

we judge without knowing others finances but in general who is deemed a kanjoos?

The richer you get, the more kanjoos you can be without being called that. Warren Buffett is legendary for his frugal habits like using coupons at McDonald, buying reduced price fixed-up cars, cheap breakfast, used an old flip phone for long and does not upgrade phone often even though Tim Cook sends him the latest. :grinning: If regular people like us do this, we will be called kanjoos.

The kanjoos people who make me the most mad :rage: are the ones who bargain with low income earners like vegetable vendors or others who sell things by the roadside or in small stalls.

I seem kanjoos to others when I am in India shopping. If I like two dresses, they say take both, why think. I think about the cost, about the suitcase space, my closet space and that it will add to the clothes I don't know how to get rid off in few years. :grinning:

The most annoying kanjoos for me currently are some of my friends when we meet for lunch 1-1. I like to tip 20-25%, I say I will take care of the tip, but friend will invariably express shock, say 15% is more than enough, and then will look up in space as she mentally calculates the tip amount. And of late, this drama sometimes happens with the waiter standing right by the table with the payment machine.

Oh I am also kanjoos in group gifts amount. Since my gift idea usually get vetoed, I have started to suggest a smaller per-head amount. :sunglasses:
