super Dear Chith, The post on swastika is really very informative as it is less known why we consider it auspicious. You do choose topics which form part of our lives but do not notice the significance. I enjoyed Regards, Meenu
My dear Meenu, Aum & Swastika are my favourite " positive energy" symbols always ! Thanks for your F B. Love, Chith.
Thank you ! Dear Chithra, I actually saw the swasthika early in the morning today around 6 AM when i was waiting for my company cab to pick me up!! What a beautiful sight to see the floral Swastika and a good write up on it . Even i showed it to my hubby. Both of us enjoyed the beautiful sight of the swasthika today morning!!!! Thankyou for the feast! Best Regards, Aishu
You are welcome, Aishu ! Swastik symbol does "perk us" up ! We always remember it with "Shubh Labh" as in North Indian shops etc. Thankyou for the F B. Love, Chithra.
Re: You are welcome, Aishu ! Wonderful explanation about our religious symbol...I remember in India we used to put OM and Swastik with turmeric and kum kum on the front entrance door during festivals...especially during Deepavali Thanks again for sharing the importance and how it is helpful to improve the positive energy flow.. Your Flower arrangement of Swastik is awesome..superb...thank you for sharing..
Nice read, Chitra amma !!! One thing though, I don't think left side is inauspicious.. The right-hand swastika is one of the 108 symbols of the god Vishnu as well as a symbol of the sun and of the sun god Surya. The symbol imitates in the rotation of its arms the course taken daily by the sun, which appears in the Northern Hemisphere to pass from east, then south, to west. (It is also a symbol of the sun among Native Americans.) The left-hand swastika (called a sauvastika) usually represents the terrifying goddess Kali, night and magic. However, this form of the swastika is not "evil" and it is the form most commonly used in buddhism.
Dear Nandhu, Since the left-hand swastika represents terrifying goddess and black magic, its not considered auspicious especially in Hindu culture as the thread says. In that sense its "inauspicious" though its not an evil and followed by other cultures. -Uma
I guess so but not sure if kali followers would agree.. LOL LOL.. BTW welcome back.. hope u had a great vacation back home..
Hey Nandhu, I have heard from someone that black magicians invoke Kali with all these kind of symbols and inauspicious things (pertaining to our culture) especially in an inauspicious time to get super powers. My reply doesn't really direct to actual Kali devotees. Yes, had a pretty good vacation. Missing home a lot now . More than me my daughter had a blast there. -Uma
