Should I Be A Duck or Eagle? Private Taxi ( not from aggregators) for airport Anna Terminal 2 for my friend to go abroad - I had arranged for one in midnight. When the taxi arrived at our illuminated facade, what I noticed was the queer quote in bold white letters behind the car rear window. Duck or Eagle You Decide.Next I found he was focused, clean and his taxi was glistening with dashboard filled with trinkets and oscillating tiny soft chimes. The chauffeur was wearing an immaculate white suit and had an intriguing smile. He himself came around and opened the rear door. In a soft tone, he gestured my friend and me to be seated. He drove the car in such a way that we felt as if we were in a liner-ship sailing on high seas. Anything we ask, he gave unequivocl and polite answer. My foreign friend was quite impressed with this driver ( and about my city). Generally, taxi drivers are quite rigid & strict. But then, who is he after the trip is over? Who are we to him after we alight and gone? This driver was unusually polite, cordial and sport a distinct demeanour. I heard him telling that he graduated in science from glorious Presidency college Chennai. When enquired about whether he had been always kind and soft to all his friends and customers, he had responded in a way that delighted me. "No sir. I was only like other drivers. I used to be chatty noisy, ruffianic and bit unfriendly with customers". "What made you turn over a new leaf?" I queried. " Sir, I drove an old man to a seminar. After his alight, asked him instead of dozing in car waiting for his return, should I attend the seminar. He favourably inclined. I went with him and watched the proceedings and listened to speakers and that has in turn produced a marvellous change in my behaviour in general and with my customers in particular." "What did they say in seminar?" Lots of innocuous advice and nuggets of info. Subtle suggestions. I was quite impressed. One of the speakers inter alia said .... When you get up in the morning expecting a bad day, you will experience the entire day as a bad day only. He said Don't be a Duck Be an Eagle. The ducks only make cacophony noise and plethora of complaints whereas The Eagles always silently soar up above the group surveying larger area of land mass for its prey. That profound advice appealed instantly and impressed me that made me to brood about bringing positive changes to my demeanour. It impelled me to introspect about myself. I realized I was only like a Duck. I thought for while why not be like an Eagle. And the sequel is here for you to look at - me as a changed re-branded man". He further said, "I started treating every customer with love and humility. I tried to bring a calmness around me and the passengers well. My daily collection tripled; my darling taxi - she is ever busy. People who traveled once, started calling me very often and recommended my taxi to their friends too. By word of mouth, I began getting wide publicity" . *******So dear contemplative reader - you had decided to be an Eagle. Are we going to be Duck or Eagle? As a good friend, as a good brother, as a good father, a good husband, a good mother, a good working-wife, and especially a good citizen. Everything is in our hands. The journey of life is short. Therefore, let's extend love in abundance to everyone.

Wonderful particularly for a Chennai taxi driver.A farmer raising sheep had problems with the dogs owned by his neighbour. His entreaties with the neighbour to keep the dogs on leash were of no avail. At last he presented a newly born lamb to his neighbour's children. The trouble stopped immediately. The lesson-if you can't be an eagle atleast be a lamb.
