    Hello Sudha !

I hope you liked the meaning - they can be chanted any time. I chant all these shlokas ( general) first thing in the morning, after lighting the lamp, keeping milk to boil in the microwave & switching on the percolator ! By the time, I finish one round of chanting, they will be ready ! So next on the agenda is coffee !
I plan to post one more for personality development & one for general peace.
    Love & regards,
    Chithra.

    Hi Prathi,

Hope you had a great Ugadhi. Thanks for the nice sloka to be recited with bevu-bella! That was very thoughtful of you.

    A Lovely Sloka...

    Dear Chitra,

That is a refreshing sloka! How nice to think of nature with bhakti. After all, what are we when faced with natural calamities? Also, liked the way you seem to start your day, sounds idyllic!
Besides, you are turning into a great writer...the scene with you chanting, placing the milk in microwave and setting the percolator is running in my mind's silver screen like a Mani Ratnam's movie:)

Wish you a nice day ...L, Kamla.

Here is a slokam to recite, before eating the food
    chittraya namaha chitraguptaya namaha
siva rupena namaha yama rupena namaha

The meaning of this slokam is it will eliminate the yama bayyam(fear before dying) and chitra guptan will forgive the positive lies

Why yama bayam slokam before food?

    Hi Samayal,

That's actually an easy and simple slokam to recite. I always wanted something like this simple to recite before food, so that it's easy to remember and quick to recite.

But I have a basic doubt. You have mentioned the purpose of the slokam being to eliminate yama bayam. Why recite the particularly before food? Any other reason behind it? Like yama attacks mostly through food, etc.

    Regards,
    Shakthi

    Dear Shakti,

The sloka is for neivedhyam. we also offer this to yama so that yama thudars will not scare us during our last minutes.

    Another simple neivedhyam slokam is

    Sarvam krishnaarpanam

    Hope this helps.

    Vidu
