    Dear Friends,
We are going to enter a new flat in my home town. My parents will be staying there primarily.

I come from a family, who do not practise Hindu rituals and my parents may not be willing to do so for this occasion either.

However, without much rituals, I would like to chant a few relevant shlokas, for such occasion and also for the well-being of my parents, who will mostly be staying alone.

Looking forward to your suggestions please

    Dear KS,

Congratulations. May the Vignaharta bring you the prosperity, healthy & peaceful life.

Vigneshwar or Ganapathy, the vignaharta is the one who is offered prayers first before starting any good work or any poojas. so if you know chant some simple slokas on him otherwise a simple prayer will do (without mantras).

Special slokas on grahapravesh is offered along with Havan hence only a pundit can help you on that. But here are some simple slokas on God Ganpathy for you...These can be also chanted daily in the morning to start a good day by seeking his company and blessings for a good day.

    "Om Sri Maha Ganapataye Namah"

Vakratunda Mahakaya - in sanskrit with meaning - sloka on Sri Ganesha
DEVOTION: Meaning of Ganesha Shloka - Agajanana Padmarkam
The Online Panchangam - Shloka Mooshika Vahana
    http://web.mit.edu/hsc/www/Shlokas/Ganesh.pdf

    Ganesh Gayatri :

    “OM Tathpurushaya Vidmahe
    Vakkratundaya Dheemahi
    Tanno Danti Prachodayat”

    Shiva gayatri :

OM Tatpurshaya Vidmahe Mahadevaya Dheemahi, Tanno Rudrah Prachodayat

    Vishnu Gayatri :

OM Narayanaya Vidmahe Vasudevaya Dheemahi, Tanno Vishnuh Prachodayat .

    Brahma gayatri :

Om Vedatmane cha Vidmahe Hiranyagarbhaya Dheemahi
    Tanno Brahma Prachodayat.

    Durga Gayatri :

OM Katyayanyai Vidmahe Kanyakumaryai Dheemahi, Tanno Durga Prachodayat

    Lakshmi Gayatri

"Om Mahalakshmyai cha vidmahe Vishnu patnyai cha dhimahi Tanno Lakshmihi prachodayat"

    Saraswathi Gayathri :

OM Vagdevyai Cha Vidmahe virinji patnyai cha Dheemai Tanno saraswathi Prachodayat

Then pray to your family deity. Seek his or her blessings. Invite them to dwell in your house and be with you all. What more is required than the presence of the almighty.

    My best wishes.
