    Hello

I want to know how long I can store Kokam in fridge? I kept in bottom drawer where we keep veggies. Kokam is fruit like tamerind. It’s not available in u s so I bring from India when I go. It’s been long time I kept in fridge so want to make sure. Thanks in advance.

Is US customs not super strict about no fruits or veg can be brought in luggages? They can fine several thousands of dollars (as I knew one family got hit) if they identify.

Kokam has longer shelf life. Many people apply oil on it and keep in the fridge.wash it before using.I usually bring 2-3 packets from India everytime I travel and lasts for more than a year.

Though it is fruit, I think what what the OP wants to say is she has bought a processed product. If its processed she can bring them in. Just like we can bring dry grated coconut.

Apply generous amount of salt, and let it sun dry for 2 days. It will stay good for 2 years. I have them too and have saved in similar manner.

Kokam is fruit looks like plum. Farmers sun dry it’s juice on skin for many days before selling. Thanks all for replying.
