@ karanu: thanks for sharing the dry fruits recipe. I gave my DS banana regularly and I could see some improvement in his weight after months!

Apple paratha

Apple - 1 (I used granny smith) grate finely.
Wheat flour - 1/2 cup
Salt - 1 pinch (optional)
Sugar - 1 pinch (optional)
Ghee - 1 tsp

Mix all the ingredients. (Add ghee at the end i.e near to the firm dough stage) The juice from the apple will act as substitute for water. Add more flour if the dough is loose. Knead to a firm dough. Allow to rest for 30 minutes.

Make parathas the usual way. Apple ghee when paratha is hot. Serve when warm.

Apple-Banana Milkshake-This is my LO's fav
For infants use cooked apple(cook peeled and cored apple in pressure cooker)
for toddlers Use the raw apple -peeled and cored.

1 Apple medium sized
1 banana
Little Sugar or honey for taste
1/2 cup milk

Blend all the above(except honey). This can be thicker for older infants.
For infants below 9months, use water instead of milk, or u can add formula/BM later after blending with little water.

I tried this yesterday and my 15 month DD loved it.
Its just a fruit mixture with jaggery ( panchamirdam in tamil)

I mashed banana, apple, guava, orange( 1 piece each) with some jaggery and it tasted yummy :)

you can also add dates if you like

Regards

Sweet Potato Porridge:

Note: Substitute sweet potato with regular potato, buttercup/butternut/acron squash/ pumpkin etc.

Ingredients: 1/4 cup rice
3 cups water
3-4 oz sweet potato, cut into small pieces
1 egg yolk, optional

Method:

Put the rice into a small pot and rinse with cold water a few times. Discard the cloudy water and add 3 cups of filtered water into the rice. Add the sweet potatoes and bring it to on medium heat. Lower the heat to simmer, cover the pot, and let cook for 45 minutes or until the rice breaks down completely. If using egg yolk, lightly beat the egg yolk and add to the porridge. Stir a few times, and let cook for about 1-2 minutes. Before serving, use a blender or stick blender to puree the porridge. Serve it cool to avoid burning your baby.

Copy/paste from her email:

1.In a pot take 2 to 3 cups of water, add pinch of turmeric, 1/2 tea spoon tamarind, chopped tomato, 2 tbl spoons chopped chicken, 1/4 tea spoon cumin, coriander powder, 2 pinches pepper powder, chopped cilantro, chopped mint, chopped curry leaves.

2. Now let this boil enough..now with a spoon press all the tomatos.

3. In a pan take little oil add cumin seeds, curry leaves, hing and add to the charu.

After we spoke I did some variation this as well tasted good.

4. Took all the charu into a mixer(Grinder). Thoroughly grinder.
