After ttc for nearly 10 years we decided to adopt a child. We applied in an agency at karnataka waited for almost 8 months. We go and do our follow up regularly every month to know the status of our application. Initially the agency told us that they will give us child in 1 year. Our recent visit to the agency left us devastated, they said us to apply in a different agency, because the wait is going to be indefinite. Most of teh agency had along waiting list with a wait period of 2 yrs. Every agency asks for the local address of ours,so we cannot go to other states for applying. friends is there any way to get child from any other state,my agency says they will do home study for me. Applying in other agency looks difficult,is there any small town where we can child, with less waiting? Anybody facing same situation as mine?
One of my relatives is also sailing in the same boat. They applied in an agency in chennai which has branches all over chennai. It`s almost 2 years since they applied. But still no good news. Now they are losing interest since they got adjusted to their present life style. I hope something good happens soon. I am wishing you and other similar people too. my sincere prayers.
I don't understand, why should it be like this? I mean there are so many parentless children in our country, why make the red tape so hard to get by that the people wanting to adopt cannot? I too plan to adopt a second child in future, after returning to India, but reading this has worried me. It is so hard?
Hi... Its just that government hasnt come up with promised list of children in each agency...So agency people play their own game uninhibitedly.... But there are some who have got a child six months so please dont give up hope....
I never knew that adoption is so tough....i was talking to my husband about adoption in case we are planing for a second child...this is news to me...why dont you go to some Orphanages, something like Sivananda Ashramam and Udhavum Karangal..in chennai...
Try to approach in orphanages in Odisha. I heard the procedure is smooth and takes max 2 to 3 months.
but wouldnt the agencies in Odisha want a local address for the couple? This is indeed worrying as somewhere the though of Adoption is coming in our minds as well (we are TTC)
Hi, If you go for adoption thru statewise agencies then you need to provide local address but there are In country agencies approved by government who will do home study at your place and you can go for adoption... wherever the child is available to familiarise yourself please go thru CARA website
Thankyou all for sharing...waiting is painful, but no option other then to undergo. Any idea about surrogacy? Is it expensive....please share your ideas friends.....
