A breast feeding mom is usually very tired and hungry and can easily put on more weight if the diet is not appropriate, its also advised to avoid foods made with besan & green moong dal as they could cause tummy ache for the baby.Moms must drink whole milk everyday along with some good fruits, dal & leafy vegetables. Protein like fish and chicken are also good, but please consume them in a healthy way.Avoid fried food & a lot of carbohydrates.Fresh salads are good.Eat rice in moderation, roties are good too. This will help you in weight loss & in keeping yourself energetic without any digestion problems for the newborn. To do this here are some tips: 1. Stack your fridge with lots of fruits, veggies, leafy veggies. 2.Avoid storing junk food at home, its best to ask your family members to avoid bringing junk food as it will tempt you. 3.Whenever you feel like snacking, eat an apple or a carrot or a salad cucumber. 4.However, you can choose sunday as a funday to eat a snack or a desert of your choice. Then too avoid raw green moong dal and besan. Women bleed after delivery for a couple months. When thats done.Start your exercise routine.Start slow..remember it takes 9 months to put on the weight and it will atleast take another 9 months to loose them.So no hurry.start your excercise with 20 mins a day in a gym & gradually increase your exercise.A balanced diet with exercise with improve your health & beauty. As for the baby, follow the directions given by your pediatrician.Check out if the baby is allergic to something and avoid that.In USA, we are advised to give solid foods only from the age of 6 months.I gave a serving of cooked puree of dal, rice & vegetables for lunch and a serving of mashed and/or cooked fruit for dinner.Avoid using ghee with the mashed rice n dal if your baby tends to throw up.This means you have to wait for a few months before you start introducing ghee again.Of-course consumption of milk is very important during the 1st yr.In the later years the amt of milk has to be reduced and the solids are to be increased. You can talk your pediatrician abt this. I hope this helps.
