School Vacation + Flight ticket ?

Dear ILites,

Mommies of school going kids, suggest me with your experience.

Do the flight ticket price hikes during the vacation time ( Jun-Aug)?
When is the better time to book the tickets?means when we get good deals..

As I'm planning for India visit this summer, wanted to get these information from you mommies...

Hi Pinky2,

Yes they do increase the prices. If you will try in june the prices will be around $300-$400/ tkt more than from what if you try for dates after july 10th .
I'm also looking in to the prices for myself for this summer season and this is what I found out.

The ticket prices will be hiked from mid june to end of july. Before my daughter started Kindergarten we used to visit India in April-May, but now no other go. If you have a chance then try to look for early May, you might be able to strike a better deal that time. Last year SIA was selling tickets for $800 for first week of May travel.

My experience is the best prices to India are mid-Jan to mid-May. From about Dec 4 to mid Jan and mid-May to (?) are the highest prices. Glad to hear that Aug may have cheaper tickets as I want to go then if I can scrape up the money.
