School system in Louisville, KY

Hi ladies,

A friend of mine is moving from Connecticut to Louisville, KY and read online that the school system is different. They follow something called "busing" and the children are not automatically assigned their home schools. She is confused about that. Her son is in a very good elementary school in CT and she wants to put him likewise in KY also. She was looking at two apts in the area - Hurstbourne & Camden Meadows.

Since she is busy with relocating formalities I thought I will post the question here.

Anybody, please help on suggesting how to get a good school for her son. And Louisville residents please let us know how you get a school close to your home. Now, that school year has started, she is very worried about getting into a good school.
